I am updating computers from Windows 10 to 11 on new PC, how do I transfer all my emails?
I am upgrading from my old HP computer running Windows 10 (not window 11 compatible) to a new Lenovo PC running windows 11. How can I transfer all my emails and email files to the new computer sothat I do not lose them?

- ensure thunderbird is NOT running on old machine
- enter %appdata% in search window on task bar and press Enter key
- this should open windows file explorer in Appdata\roaming folder
- highlight the Thunderbird folder and copy to external media
- ensure thunderbird is installed on second computer, started once and NOT running
- enter %appdata% in search window on task bar and press Enter key
- you should be in Appdata\roaming folder. DELETE the thunderbird folder there
- now , paste your copied thunderbird folder there.
- start thunderbird and all should be there
Hi David, I did backup my files from the old computer, but for some reason it turned out to be unnecessary. Once I had downloaded Thunderbird to me new Lenovo Windows 11 computer and opened the program my old emails and files stared to load themselves? I guess this must be something to do with syncing my BT accounts? But thanks for your help anyway.
