Hello, I have been mostly happy with Mozilla VPN on my Mac (running Big Sure), except for one recurring issue: after installing and using Mozilla VPN, I my internet connection doesn't seem to work if I'm not connected to the VPN. Specifically, the VPN is running and the internet is fine, and then I disconnect the VPN, and internet connectivity ceases. Any ideas here? Thanks!

Hello!

We're sorry for the inconvenience. There is an ongoing issue on the VPN for macOS that stems from the system overwriting their previously set DNS settings. If the VPN process crashes, it doesn’t clean out these DNS entries, and since those DNS are only accessible via the VPN, it effectively breaks all non-VPN networking.

To fix this, go ahead and uninstall the VPN from your computer, then go to System preferences > Network > Wi-fi (make sure to remove the lock in order to be able to make changes) > Advanced > DNS, and if DNS server 10.64.0.1 is showing remove it from the list, as well as fc00:bbbb:bbbb:bb01::1. That should fix your internet connection, then try reinstalling the VPN again and it should work normally.

Rest assured, this issue will be corrected on the next macOS release.

Let me know if that helps.
