It is not possible to add a home icon to the toolbar in Firefox for Android, but you do not really need to. Whenever you open a new tab, you will taken to the homescreen.

I may not have explained properly.when i bring up settings optioms is not available.i cannot get home icon anywhere and other things like customising are not avaiable.it looks as though i may have to delete browser.

Are you opening Firefox for Android from the Android homescreen or from a link in another app?
