tried your fix still can not recieve messages? it works for other Gmail account but not my main one?
Gmail account is still receiving emails on my phone but it stopped on my desktop. error message about pop server?? I deleted the password as troubleshooting said might fix it... still doesn't work.... my second Gmail account still works on desktop...

You probably need to go to the Gmail website and set up an "application specific password", and then use that new password in Thunderbird.
