Thunderbird will not launch after AVG 2017 updat
AVG did an automatic update to 2017 and now neither Thunderbird or Firefox will launch. Cannot access any of my email folders in Thunderbird. If I try to reinstall Thunderbird will my contacts and folders be found and installed into a new install

I had the same problem. Checked at Avast and found this thread about the update-https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=208097.msg1418018#msg1418018
Solved it for me.YMMV
