I use Outlook Express and outlook on various other computers to receive and read my email. If I initially open my emails using Thunderbird and trash any they are automatically deleted from my mailserver. I would like ALL my mail on Thunderbird to be retained indefinitely until I choose to trash them. How do I set up these preferences?

This works the same way as Outlook and Outlook Express.

From the Thunderbird menu.

Click "Tools"

Click "Account Settings"

Under each e-mail account you have set up to work in Thunderbird:

Click "Server Settings"

Check to select: "Leave messages on server"

Check to select "Until I delete them."

Make sure "For at most ___ days" is NOT checked.

Click "OK" to save settings.

When accessing mail from multiple computers IMAP is a better choice than POP. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/imap-synchronization
