I have FF (13.0.1) on several computers and I'm CONSTANTLY getting nagged to upgrade to the latest version. I DON'T want to be nagged all the time.

The reason I DON'T immediately upgrade is because every time I do, the look/feel of my FF settings has changed in some manner. I don't always have 4 hours to sift through forum notes on how to change/fix the issues I now have after upgrading.

How do I turn it off? So annoying.

Those settings are described in this article: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version#w_how-do-i-configure-update-32optionssf33preferencessf

There are not a lot of "look/feel" changes between Firefox 13 and Firefox 14:

  • To the left of the URL, the "site identity button" has changed. It no longer shows the site's favicon but instead shows one of a set of security indicating icons that is consistent for all sites. The favicon still shows on the tab.
  • A "best match" URL now starts appearing in the address bar as you type. This can be turned off in about:config if you like. Some people have turned it off because of the following: if you have visited a site that mix secure (https) and insecure (http) pages, autofill will default to opening the home page with a secure connection, and not all sites can handle that. (E.g., After updating to 14.0.1 Firefox will force https on websites. How do I fix?)

So I think it's safe for you to update this time.

Just so you know, Firefox 13 is subject to many publicly known security holes and by running an out of date version, you are opening yourself up to these risks (no matter if you have anti-virus or not).

Also, as jscher said, between 13 and 14 there are barely any UI changes, and honetly there have been very few in any version since Firefox 4 (the last major UI overhaul). there are small tweaks here and there, but not much.
