i cannot get firefox to open, as a home page, google.com. Instead I get google.gr. I have done and tried everything. Thanks Mano.

Where are you located? Sometimes, google will open the page that is specific to the country in which you are located. To fix this, when www.google.gr is opened, on the right bottom side, there should be an option to go to www.google.com. You can select that. Otherwise, you can go to www.google.com/ncr.
