I have a web site with Homestead.com I been creatiing and publishing new pages as well as changes to the existing pages for years. Now, when I "publish" they publish on Homestead pages, but not on my website. Homestead tells me it is a Firefox issue. Help, I don't know what more to do. I have cleared cache and cookies, recent history, restarted, etc. Why is Firefox now blocking new pages and keeping the old?

Do other browsers show the new pages and changes to existing pages, or do all browsers show the old pages?

If no browsers can see the changes, it sounds as though they might not have been saved successfully, or saved in the wrong location. I'm not familiar with Homestead's platform, so I don't know how that could happen.

If other browsers can see the changes, you might try the usual... When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

See: How to clear the Firefox cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove your site's cookies (not the Homestead cookies). While viewing a page on your site, try either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • click the padlock or globe icon in the address bar > More Information > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I had already cleared cookies and cache several times and it didn't hold. It was like it worked, then was back to the old page I had wanted changed. I cleared all again, and the new pages seem to be on the site. I never have had this issue before so I wonder if it is something with Firefox changes. Oh well, I really don't enjoy computer weirdness. Thanks again.

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Thank you so much for taking the time to send this solution. I have made a copy to keep close at hand. My pages are now on my web site after several cache, cookie clearings. Thank you again.
