Firefox updated from 28.0 to 33.1 without permission. This is like joyriding and then crashing my car, IMHO, as 33.1 is a crash!

I'm still on 28.0, as none of the 3X levels work properly for me. What just happened is Firefox updated from 28.0 to 33.1 without permission. Now, before you start telling me about Options -> Advanced -> Update, I already set Firefox to not update at all, period. It isn't even to check.
I also checked the configuration settings using about:config of app.update.* for the three settings (e.g. auto. etc).
I did read where a profile can come into existence and thus allow an update. QUESTION: Can I set up Firefox to not allow the creation of profiles? (Say to stop this method.)
When I checked the update log it just showed an update to 33.1, but not why or who allowed the update to occur.
Basically, till this new interface is better looking (e.g. like 19 or 28), I'm staying here (even if that's decades). I do check out the new interface (from time to time) hoping for an improvement. I hope it comes.
(Oh, for websites like GMail with its messages about updating, I use the "User Agent" addon and set it to the latest version (right now 35.0.)
I hope there is a way to prevent Firefox from updating without express permission under all cases (e.g. if one profile say no updating then no updating - or - until all profiles agree on the update there is no update -or- Firefox can update but the end user interface and add-on support stays at the same level the profile was at before the update).

As for profiles; a new default profile may be created if the profile.ini file is missing:

Is there a way to tell Firefox to only use the default profile and ignore all others (for security reasons)?
After all if an application can come along and create a profile (say to cause an update) it could also be there to do stuff that is bad. Thus creating the profile by other than the user specifically doing it is a security problem.

Yeah, I know, but allowing an application to create a profile or override the no update setting is also a security problem. After all using the same method an application could do . . . well, whatever it would like to do, right?!
As for the suggest solution, I tried the plugin but it just isn't there, IMHO. I even contributed $$$ to help him continue his work so it might some day be there.
IMHO, it shouldn't be hard to have the old interface. It should be as easy as having an option in the Tools -> Options dialog where the person could specify the interface (s)he wants to use. AFTER ALL there will be even more interface changes over the years and each one will have people who like and dislike them. Thus people should be able to use the interface they like.
Another download to a plugin doing this work instead of Firefox, itself ....
A) The plugin author might not be able to keep up with new releases and getting it "certified." B) A future version of Firefox might break the plugin C) Having the interface choice and support in Firefox means the Firefox testing plan would include the interface changer for each update.
(Also if the code has to support multiple interfaces, the programmers might think more than "hey that's a cool idea," as they'll have to support it and write code to have it work with and not break past interfaces.
Where can I go to propose and promote that idea?!
To absolutely keep Firefox from updating you need to delete the Maintenance Service executable, if it is installed.

Quite honestly though, if you dislike the Firefox 29+ versions that much, now would be the time to choose a different browser to use. Don't you think?

Bertram the Firefox 33.1 is the current version as 35.0 is not the latest version as it will not be not for two more months.
Also Plugins is used to refer to say Flash and Java as what you used this word for in place of is called Extensions.
Fine to all of the corrections about my wording and being wrong with versions, but . . .
I find the Firefox 28.0 and below interface to be enjoyable and easy to use. I tried the 29 and 31 versions and found them difficult to use even after a couple of hours. They were NOT intuitive to me. Maybe this is because I don't use Facebook, Twitter, Windows 8, etc., but fact is people shouldn't have to give up what works for them simply to let designers have fun or something to do.
At least design a way so customers can select how they want their interface to look. How might this work? The user could select an entire interface by release number or even say area of the screen by release number. (e..g. tabs from 28.0, toolbars from 28.0, XYZ from 31, etc)
