I have noticed strange behavior in the last few days. This morning, I am trying to go to stonehouseinn.com. When I enter it, it starts to load the home page, then diverts me to a blocked page: http://stonehouseinn.com/blocks/page_list/view.css?v=744eb82069f594b425d23f63d7bc2250

Another site (in the same tourism area) is doing the same thing.

Interestingly, this does NOT happen on my wife's computer, on the same LAN, also running firefox.

Assuming they didn't like my do not track or other security settings, I disabled them -- same behavior. Re-enabled security settings.

In another anomaly, when I go to e.triblive.com (local newspaper web reader), I get diverted to some Yahoo search page: http://us.yhs4.search.yahoo.com/yhs/errorhandler?hspart=gt&hsimp=yhse-gt&q=http%3A%2F%2Fe.triblive.com%2Fjquery.captcha.js&type=827316

Any help would be appreciated. Jim wb4gcs@amsat.org

First of all Try disabling your add-on ,What are that two add-on for Tidy Network 1.0 and Disconnect??

Try disabling them seeDisable or remove Add-ons

Moreover, Your System Details List shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize some prefs on each start of Firefox.

The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created it, so normally it wouldn't be there. you can check its content with a plain text editor if you didn't create this file yourself.

The user.js file is read each time you start Firefox and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.

You can rename or delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js and user.js files to reset all prefs to the default value.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

Note that the "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K and the "AppData" folder in Windows Vista and Windows 7 and later versions are hidden folders.

Hello,

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and click History button, and then Clear Recent History... .
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Renamed the user.js file. DIdn't want to delete, it had something about dns, which made me nervous. Uninstalled TidyNetworks, up to the point of installing MORE software to remove the ads. Reset FireFox as advised. Restarted computer and firefox. Lost my homepage and a couple of other things, but important bookmarks were preserved, and homepage, etc. easily restored.

Now, all 3 sites that gave me trouble work.

You guys are absolutely AWESOME.

Thanks so much!!

Jim
