The "print selection only" does not work when printing an internet page

I recently re-installed the driver software for my Canon MX860 to better work with my Mountain Lion OS. Now when I try to print from internet and check the box that says "print selection only" and try to print, It does not print the selected (highlighted) text. The page come out empty. How do I regain this feature?

Does this problem occur on every page with the text in any position, or does it seem to depend on the page layout or position of the selection?

Firefox can be a little unpredictable when printing a selection. Sometimes the selection appears right where you expect, while in other cases there may be numerous blank pages before/after it.
