Background: I have a Plusnet email account. Several months ago Plusnet passed their emails over to Greenby (but 'nothing will change'). At that point I was unable to log onto Greenby support. It seems my ID was not recognised so I couldn't reset my password. Last week our Plusnet router was replaced by an EE router in connection with telephone landlines being changed to internet-based. That prompted me finally to phone Greenby in order to sort out access to support. In the course of that, I got a new password. Current problem: I now find that I can't send emails from Thunderbird. I get the failure message 'Invalid login or password'. (Thunderbird is receiving emails OK.) I have had a long exchange with Greenby automated support, but so far (after 5 days) no sign of an actual human. I have been fiddling with authentication and server settings (following advice from the support bot), but it isn't clear to me whether the problem lies with either or both of those, or with something else. Meanwhile I am reduced to sending from webmail. Any suggestions please? (N.B. On attempting to send a mail I don't get prompted for a server ID and password, but at present my list of saved passwords has only a single entry for IMAP.)
