Hi, I updated Ubuntu and after update almost all my emails and my catalogues settings are gone. I only see a few mails received over the past 2 weeks before an update, and a few from a few weeks after I bought my PC and set up Thunderbird.

During the update I was asked: "Do you want to reset your setting to default?" and some second question and I responded "Yes" twice.

Everything apart from mails from Thunderbird stayed with no changes. Do you have any idea how to try to get my mails back? I'm happy to share all data you need to answer my question. Thank you in advance!

I have just upgraded xubuntu to 24.04, and am now missing all folders. Messages are available on searching, so all is not lost. Can send and receive OK. I suspect "snap". Looking at my file map, I see that I have Tbird and snap at the same level, and also "Thunderbird_backup_profile.zip".

A user with snap-related problems on here was advised thus:

"UDP: Remove thunderbird in snap. Install over apt. All works perfect. DO NOT USE install thunderbird in snap!"

OK, so what can I do now, please?

I am using microsoft Exchange 2019 CU13 Nov23SU I use Thunderbird mailbox client Version 128.2.0esr | Released September 4, 2024 OS server 2019 server 1809 17763.6189

I use the imap protocol.

And during folder transfer, deletion or renaming, phantom folders are created. If I install this mailbox on another computer, the phantom folders are loaded.

There are no such problems with Outlook. Can anyone tell me what to do about this? (if i use protocol mapi) In web mail i too not see fhantom folder

Thunderbird automatically updated to v128 earlier this week after I went to Help - About Thunderbird to check that it had updated to v115.14.

Everything seemed okay immediately after the update, but when I started Thunderbird the next day it was very unresponsive. Checking the Activity Manager showed that Thunderbird was indexing messages, but that this was happening very slowly. I let Thunderbird do its thing that day in the hope that things would settle down.

The next day when I started Thunderbird things were still bad. I tried Rebuilding the Global Database but when I restarted Thunderbird it was just as bad, if not worse.

I then turned off indexing in the Thunderbird settings and Thunderbird is now responsive and back to normal.

Is anyone else seeing anything like this? Any suggestions to fix the problem?

I am a long time Thunderbird user so my profile is very large with a lot of accounts, and has been through a lot of Thunderbird versions, so it is potentially more complicated than normal.

Thunderbird version is currently 128.1.0esr (32-bit).

Hy, after the last update the emails I marked them with tags are no more in colors (title, sender etc...). I have no addons in my Thunderbird. I have tried suggested solutions I have read (restard in safe mode, clear cache, disable addons etc...).

After updating to 128.2.0esr (64-bit), my RSS feed for DimeADozen (http://bt.dimeadozen.org/rss/) stopped working. It requires a username+password. I removed the subscription and deleted the subfolder from Blogs & Newsfeeds, but when I tried to add it back, the URL returned "The Feed URL is not authorized." I checked the version of Thunderbird, and apparently the update hadn't fully applied, as I was told to relaunch. After doing so, when I try to add the feed, I get the message "You already have a subscription for this feed." It is not listed in the Feed Subscriptions window.

Please help.

Thunderbird keeps asking me for the password of an email account every time I restart it. The account was removed from Thunderbird several months ago. Even when the account is set up again, it asks for the password in a continuous loop. The email account itself cannot be deleted or the password changed as it is used by multiple parties.

I have tried sevaral things and it seriously is driving me crazy...

I tried to transfer the Profile of Thunderbird Version 115 from my Windows 10 PC to a new Windows 11 PC. I followed the steps posted at the website ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/moving-thunderbird-data-to-a-new-computer ) I got to Step 5 for the new / destination computer 5. Locate the "Profile Folder" entry, but when I clicked Open Folder. Windows could not find the Thunderbird profile folder How do I bring my Thunderbird profile to the current version of Thunderbird? Not a question, a suggestion. On the help page for using OAuth2 in Thunderbird, there are 2 things not specified. 1. In the SMTP settings, I couldn't select OAuth2 untli I changed the server from something older to, if I remember right, smtp.office365.com. The old entry was more like smtp.outlook.com. Then I had to close and restart Thunderbird. 2. Tbird still couldn't access my Outlook mail account. On Microsoft's security page, I had to create an "app password" and enter that in Thunderbird instead of my previous Outlook password. Either I made an error, or the first app password didn't work and I had to create another app password; that time it succeeded.

I've installd TB and connected it to my Gmail account. it started downloading the messages about 300 at a time. It reached 46k messages. Now it would only download 1 or 2 messages at atime... every time I click Get all new messages and it only got to april 2023... so it still has about 10k messages to download... Thank you for any sugestions!

Guyz, volunteers, please tell ur boss that another one here thinks that If you dont touch visuals for decade and focus only stability and security, he would definitelly gladly pay for such option.

Personal emails exhibit no problem. When I send emails to corporations via Thunderbird they do not now receive them. If I re-send them via Gmail, they do. Seems to me there must be some new elements added to Thunderbird that triggers corporate system screening rejection.

Been a long time Thunderbird user. This situation has just recently developed.

Is there a fix on my end?

How can I restore Thunderbird settings and/or emails that were lost in the upgrade to version 128.2 (for Ubuntu)? Files for the previous version are still in the hidden .thunderbird folder on my hard disc, but the new version won't recognise them (even if I move them into the snap/thunderbird folder. I have an email backup, but version 128.2 doesn't seem to have a way to restore backed-up emails.

I'm running for quite a time Thunderbird on Windows up to Win11 without any problem. For about 3 years I'm using the same TB profile in dual boot environment with Linux Mint (v21 until last week and now version 22). I understood why I didn't get access from Linux side after the latest TB update in Windows as obviously the file structure and other things had changed to make it incompatible to elder versions.

However, as Linux is now my normal working environment, I've tried it again after upgraded my system to Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon 6.2.9 , kernel 6.8.0-44-generic and failed again, having the same error message when starting the profile: "Thunderbird is already running, but not responding. To use Thunderbird, you must first close the existing process, restart your device, ore use a different profile. "sudo killall Thunderbird" didn't find a running process.

I've tried importing everything in a new profile, which worked (more or less), but failed with all attempts getting access to my local profile. A local profile appears after importing but contains no data, trying to import its data separately doesn't trigger any error message when just ticking "E-Mail", but nothing is imported. When ticking "E-Mail" and "Settings", I'm getting a red alert that asks me to look into the error console which doesn't help either.

What can I do ????

Hola, Antes cuando tenia abierto Thunderbird, me llegaba un nuevo mensaje y me aparecía como ventana emergente en la derecha, ahora a pesar de que está seleccionada esa opción como muestro en captura adjunta y que está actualizado, me llega el sonido pero no se ve.... Me podéis ayudar? Gracias Eva

just updated to 128.2.0esr, the custom userChrome.css is not applied anymore and I got back to see the ugly yellow warning instead of the muted grey one I overridden in the css, that always worked so nicely

was there a hidden update to how that file is handled?

(the about:config toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets is still set to true)

I beleive also that my disappeared mails is a compacting issue. I am not so good at IT therefore I could not find out how I could find the compacted files and restore them. Unfortunately I could not find the solution in kindly posted link; https://support.mozilla.org/kb/compacting-folders. Can please someone help how to find and restore compacted mails?
