What happened to the useful top right window box for attachments on my outgoing emails, can I return it? It's gone to the bottom and is really annoying, I mean who decides these useless and unhelpful changes?

PDF file attachments were working fine and now they don't.

I get no error message, but nothing happens when it's set to open in Acrobat. I can view the file in "Preview in Thunderbird" and the file isn't corrupted as I can save to disk and then open in Acrobat.

I tried restarting TB in troubleshoot mode with add-ons disabled, but that did not solve.

hello, i cannot seem to find a solution online, hopefully someone can help.

i often receive emails with images attached, and most of the time people don't resize their images. you can imagine over time this all adds up in the email storage folder total size.

i dont always need to keep a 6mb image version, it can be reduced after i am done.

i would like a method to resize the received emails image attachment, to at least still have a smaller copy for refence, but not end up with a huge thunderbird email account profile (in the email received not externally saved)

preferably a one click solution, or even a routine i can run on the file system, etc. or some way to edit the received email and its attachment in program.

Hello, I’ve just started using Thunderbird and I really like it so far.

I have one question regarding attachments. In emails that include attachments, is it possible to change how the attachment area is displayed? Currently, it appears as a single line at the bottom of the message. Ideally, I’d like to have it displayed more prominently, preferably at the top of the message, similar to how it appears in Outlook.

So far, the only adjustment I’ve made is setting mailnews.attachments.display.start_expanded to always show attachments expanded. Are there any other settings or methods to further customize the attachment view or position?

We have been using the Brother MFC-J6940DW iPrint&Scan Attach to email successfully with Thunderbird. It creates a new email and attaches the scanned item to it. Recently it stopped working. Nothing happens and there is no error message. We have run all Windows updates. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the Brother drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird, downgraded Thunderbird to v 143 and 140 from current 144 version. We have confirmed Thunderbird is default mail app and verified in registry that Mozilla Thunderbird is default in HKEY_CURRENT_USER|Software\Clients\mail > (Default) value = Mozilla Thunderbird and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEISOFTWARE\Clients\Mail > (Default) Value = Mozilla Thunderbird. We have made sure the Firewall talks nice to the Brother Utilities and the ports are ok for Public and Private. Brother tech support says as long as we can do a normal scan that it must be Thunderbird or Windows. Does anyone have any thoughts or other troubleshooting ideas? Thanks in advance. -- Sue

Menu: Message>attachment>delete all

When delete all attachments for a message, when delete all attachments, auto move to the next message.

This behavior is annoying, usually I first delete all attachments and then reply but message position is in the next message.

This behavior is for example for version 140.7.1esr and 140.8.1esr.

I want to send photographs from my Android phone to the "pictures" section of the Thunderbird e-mail program. The photos are going into that section but I can't see the picture itself as they just show wording as extensions. How do I get the actual picture to show up? How do I put my desired description of each of the "pictures" on the list along with the extension wording?

I attached a 9 mb html file to an email and sent it. In sending it was broken up into 10 different emails.. In receiving it, I found 10 emails and don't know what to do with them. I selected all 10, and there appeared a window with the word "archive" . Which I clicked and now all 10 email are in a subfolder named Archives.. I still don't know what to do with them in order to join them together into the original readable file.

Would appreciate some suggestions...

I newly installed Thunderbird 148 on a Windows 11 laptop (after uninstalling a previous installation under a different user). I connected to a Yahoo Mail account and downloaded all the emails from the Yahoo inbox.

Emails with attachments (.pdf and .docx) visible online in Yahoo Mail do not include these attachments when downloaded to Thunderbird.

I received an email with 7 attachments. 2 of the attachments had similar filenames (not identical). When I selected "Save All" the 2 similar filenames were not saved. See screenshots for details

I am a TB user (for work) and i love it, the main reason being the fact that it's simple, compared to MS Outlook, for example. Easy to use, intuitive for new users, and so on. So congrats to everyone for keeping it simple! :)

Now, an issue i've come across recently. More and more people send documents as .jpeg, pictures taken by smartphones. And, as everyone knows, the recent models have increased the MB of each camera. And most people sadly keep the max resolution, best quality, like you'd use when going on a holiday. But you don't need this when you take a picture of an invoice or a gas receipt. This results in very large attachments, esp. when you add several pics to an email.

The current limit seems to be 25MB (i got this from Google, didn't see any mention of a limit in TB help?!). So my question is simple: can I, a user, increase this limit somehow? Or is it a dev related setting? If users can, please guide me through some options/menus because i haven't found any. I use the latest version, 140.8.0esr. A realistic limit, imho, would be 100MB/email.

Also, kindly please keep feedback on topic, I am not interested in sharing, or sending in any other ways, like wetransfer, google drive, one drive, etc.

I routinely drag and drop attachments out of an incoming email and into various desktop folders. However, in the last couple of days, it started creating multiple copies when dragging more than one attachment at a time AND doing it in multiples of the number of attachments. For example, if I drag four attachments over, it will save the original attachment and create three more and number them: ex. File.pdf (original) and File-1.pdf, File-2.pdf, File-3.pdf. Three file equals two copies, six files equals five copies, and so on. Dragging one attachment is fine and saving multiples via SAVE ALL works fine as well. It's only multiples via drag and drop. I am running the latest Thunderbird 148.0 on a Mac with Tahoe 26.3.

Just a couple hours ago I tried to attach a photo from my Samsung phone. I was successful doing so earlier today. Now I get this message and have no idea what to do? "C:\Users\Owner\Desktop\Jack.jpg could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences." Can you help?
