For the past week, I've been trying to set Firefox as my default browser on Windows 11 Pro (I've been using Firefox for years), but after restarting, the Edge browser reappears, even for PDFs (we use Adobe Acrobat) and Paint for TIFF and JPEG files! It's outrageous that Microsoft is forcing users to use Edge. This never happened to me with Windows 7 or Windows 10. I'm completely dissatisfied with Microsoft's policy of forcing users to use Edge! I've tried configuring regedit, gpedit, taskchd, etc., in a thousand different ways, and after restarting, the intrusive Edge returns! Is there any way to prevent this? Mozilla should fight this! It's unacceptable that we have to be tied to Microsoft's monopolistic whims!. Do you have any solution? Thank you very much!! Leonardo

FF used to have a "Close right tabs" menu point. EXCELLENT. Fast. Useful. Since some time, feature creep has expanded that into "Close several tabs" and the sub-menu close right tabs close left tabs close all tabs

Minor point: I use close right all the time, never though close left or close all ("Close all" would be "move to start", then "close right", anyway) So, I go one level further down for nothing added.

Major point: Inadvertently closing to the left or closing all destroys a lot of tabs I do not want to go.

This new "feature" is annoying and harmful. At the very least, developers should ask users whether they actually want that stuff. Before spending/wasting time on it.

Now, "close left" and "close all" being unfortunately present: Is there a way to remove the two dangerous options and stay - as before - with just "Close right tabs"?

На на сайте поддержки Mozzila не нашел, ни интернет не подсказал. Я понимаю, что это автозапуск Firefox при запуске Windows. Но что конкретно делает данный параметр?

Issue: When Firefox starts after a system reboot, it starts on the incorrect desktop. This seems to be off by one; that is, I have Firefox assigned to Desktop 3 (using the Dock icon's Options menu). Under normal operation, it starts on Desktop 3, but after a reboot, it seems to start on (more recently) Desktop 2 or (earlier) Desktop 4. Unsure about what causes it to prefer 2 vs. 4.

This seems to happen after I've shut down (quit Firefox normally, shut down without reopening windows on login, power goes off, power on, log in, then click on the Firefox icon in the Dock) or after a system update (which reopens windows on login for me after rebooting and installing the update). It does not seem to happen after a Firefox update or after quitting Firefox normally and then restarting it from the Dock icon right away.

Pretty irritating, as I have major applications assigned to specific desktops, and Firefox is the only one that seems to forget which desktop it should be on.

Details:

Firefox 150.0.3 (aarch64):

  • Settings > General > Startup > Open previous windows and tabs > TRUE (checked)

macos 26.5 (25F71) Tahoe:

  • Settings > Desktop and Dock > Mission Control:
  • ---> Automatically rearrange Spaces based on most recent use: FALSE
  • ---> ...switch to a Space with open windows for that application: TRUE
  • ---> Group windows by application: TRUE
  • ---> Displays have separate Spaces: TRUE
  • Dock > Firefox application icon > [Right Click] > Options > Assign To > This Desktop (i.e., Desktop 3)
  • Apple Menu > Shutdown > Reopen windows when logging in: FALSE

MacBook Air M4 2025 24 GB RAM:

  • No external displays connected

It was nice when FF was simple to use....unimcumbered with all the options...like the latest...profiles.

Why? It's getting to be as complicated as E and C..you don't need all those options - that's why I use FF.

Get rid, or allow the user, to pick and choose, and dump the unwanted stuff from cluttering the tool bar and other options. Just a suggestion that can be made to FF any longer. Use to be they'd welcome feedback.

When I select a line of text, normally it would get deleted/overwritten when typing a new line of text, but when I select text in Firefox and begin typing again, it simply deletes the first word in the selection and keeps the rest. Is there a setting to have ALL text selected deleted/overwritten when new text is entered? Selecting one word overwrites the whole word but when an entire line to be deleted is selected, only the first word is deleted and typing begins where that word ends.

When uploading files with Firefox, I click the upload button, and the file browser window appears to upload files.

For as long as I can remember, it always defaulted to the last folder location that I uploaded a file, but just a few days ago, it stopped working, and always defaults to my home folder.

How can I make the upload window pop up, default to the last uploaded location? My OS is Linux Mint Cinnamon.

When I press F12 to use the developer tools and try to change the width of the panes by click and drag the divider there now seems to be a limit to the panes width that was not there before. I'm not sure with what version I stated to notice this. I use to be able to drag the right hand panel fairly far over to the left and could take up about 75-80% of the width of the developers window. Now I'm guessing that I'm able to drag the right panel to a max width of 35-40% for some reason. I have not changed anything in the about:config page. I'm not sure why I can't drag the right panel to cover the 75-80% of the window that I had been able to do.

Is there a setting in the developer tools or on the about:config page that sets the max width that the right hand panel can be dragged to the left?

Harmful auto-format feature: Firefox hijacks typing to force weird numbered lists in WhatsApp & AI chats

Hello,

I am dealing with a quite frustrating issue, and I literally cannot do anything to stop it from ruining my messages.

Whenever I manually type in WhatsApp Web or AI chats (like ChatGPT or Claude), Firefox completely hijacks my text box. As soon as I start a line by typing "1", a period, and a single space ("1. "), the browser forces my text into an auto-formatted numbered list.

This isn't just unhelpful; I see it as a genuinely harmful feature. The formatting it forces on me is weird and broken—it frequently adds massive, irrelevant paragraph gaps between list items, completely messing everything up.

I am completely stuck because standard fixes do not work:

If I press Ctrl + Z to undo the auto-formatting, it also deletes the space I typed.

I am not pasting anything; this happens the millisecond I type the spacebar from scratch.

It feels awful to have my manual typing hijacked like this. Users should be able to type a simple number and a period without the browser transforming it into a broken HTML list.

Is there an about:config setting or any way to completely disable this auto-formatting feature so I can just type normally again?

Thank you.

Hi. Now that the 'Open Link in Split View' has annoyingly replaced the spot previously held by 'Open Link in New Window' i keep clicking on it accidentally (muscle memory).

I don't want to have to retrain my muscle memory, but despite creating css file generated by Claude that should in theory remove the option, and putting it the Profile Folder, it will not go away.

How do i remove it?
