I want to upgrade to Firefox 7.0 but I get the message, each time it is suggested, that it will not support the add-on: Screengrab. I use screengrab almost daily and don't want to give it up. Can someone tell me a way to make screengrab work with Firefox 7.0? thx, Shelly

Hi,

You can try installing Add-on Compatibility Reporter after updating Firefox and see if Screengrab works.

Do you mean this addon?

Or do you mean this one?

Both are compatible with Firefox up to version 7.*, so should be compatible with Firefox 7.0.1. They might be compatible with the current version if you bump up the max version in the install.rdf file in the .xpi installer file.

thanks, I didn't realize there were other screengrab options. Neither one of those is mine that I use currently but they seem to fill my needs. I am not really computer literate, so the "bump up the max version in the install.rdf file in the .xpi installer file." might be beyond my capabilities...however, I understand what you are saying, I just need to find where to do that. Thanks so much, Shelly

If you use an archive handler like 7-zip, you can open an .xpi file and extract the install.rdf file in there. In that text file is a line 'em:maxVersion="7.*"'. Change the number to 8 or 9, save the file and then put it back into the archive. The archive will be saved automatically with the revised file.

Hi whizzed,

You may have to install the Add-on Compatibility Reporter first. This helps to install incompatible extensions as well as enable the incompatible ones, though the full functionality may not be guaranteed. Alternatively try searching for screen grab or similar in the top right search box in Firefox Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons or @ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/
