Does anyone know how to turn on spell check permanently so that I don't have to right click in every text field that I am editing and click spell check over and over again?

I have spell check turned on in setting to check as I type. And yes I have two dictionaries downloaded and installed. But as I am working inside a program and I have to enter data into a text field, if I want it spell checked I have to right click and then click on Spell check for every field that I enter text into. For a while last week it was working without having to do that, and I had done nothing to make it happen. It was nice. Since then I realized I want spell check on. But I can't figure out how to set it so that it turns on for every field that I click into to enter text. Any ideas?
