Since 2 Years I try to connect my gmail email account with thunderbird, I went through all written help and tried hundred of solutions including app password. Thunderbird refuses and alway report connection error. all other email provider work well. is there some latest fix? I tend to support the view that whend an issue has too many variables, already that is the problem and that is what i see in thunderbird. when I use outlook there are no issues and its something of seconds to connect to gmail.

Okay, I'll try to help. - click settings>privacy&security and verify that 'accept cookies' is checked - click file>new >existing mail account - fill in requirements but DO NOT include password - be sure to include full email address - click the 'retest' button or 'done', whichever there is. - at this point, Google should show a pop-up for your credentials - after entering that, the screen should prompt with 'allow' button - click that and it should work.
