After installing the newest version of Firefox, it opens to Yandex. I have tried all the removal suggestions I have seen so far and still it remains.

What is your computer system and Firefox?

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac:<Command>)<Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove Yandex Anything. Now do the same in the computers Programs Folder.

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

If the above does not help, You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

After the problem is fixed, Bookmark and use this; Download the Mozilla Search Reset {web link} This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.

Thank you, Fred, for your information and time. Unfortunately, I am still not able to open Mozilla without it going to www.yandex.ru instead of the correct page. The addon for Yandex I had already gotten rid of, and there is no Yandex program listed in teh Unistall Program listing. I ran Malware and my system is secure. I uninstalled Mozilla and re-installed and it still opens to the yandex.ru page. I checked the properties of Mozilla, and it is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" (no extra extension here)

So I am still searching for a solution to this. I appreciate your help, although I wish it would have cleared this up so I could use Mozilla. I am using Windows 7 Home Professional.
