Hi, I wrote to the I Can Has Cheezburger site thinking this was a problem with their website. After a few questions and following the suggestion to try IE to see if it works, I think it is a problem with FF.

I am going to use the explanation I sent to Cheezburger because I don't know if I could write it again:

"Not playing the videos properly started with the emails (from I Can Has Cheezburger), and now it has progressed to your website (I Can Has Cheezburger) too. Every other video plays fine. I have attached a screenshot of the video as it is ready to play. When I click on the arrow or on the "f", the screen is black as in the second screenshot. When I click on the circle on the progress bar just to the right of the red portion of the bar, I get small still pictures that progress through the video and do get a full picture on the screen and it also changes pictures as I pull the circle across the screen, but as soon as I pull away from that circle the screen goes black again. Unfortunately, I can't get a picture of what it does. " I don't go on to Facebook much, but when I get a link there it seems like it was OK. I don't pay that much attention. So, I tried a couple on different sites that I've played before. One did the same thing, that was a YouTube video, the other worked fine and it was on the Quilting Arts website. It first started just when I clicked on the video in the emails so I compensated and started clicking on the title and watching them that way. That's been happening probably a month or more. Now it's with your website and from a small sample of tries, it seems like it's happening with YouTube also."

Cheezburger asked: "Since it's happening on other sites and after looking at the screenshots, do you know if you are using the latest version of Flash? That might be why the videos aren't playing. If you're not sure, you can go here to see if you have the latest and if not, you can download it: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html" My answer: "I have a couple programs that tell me when a program needs to be updated but I followed your link and installed the latest version just to be sure. And when I tested it on YouTube, it's still doing the same things."

Cheezburger asked: "Hmm.. Would you be able to try a different browser? It looks like you are using Firefox currently. Any possibility you can try using Google Chrome, Internet Explorer or Safari to see if it's a browser issue?" My answer: "I tried a test on your page and as much as I don't like IE, it did play the video. So, I hate to say it but it must be FireFox."

I've attached 2 screenshots showing the problem and 1 showing it will play correctly with some videos. Anytime it is not going to work right it will have the small "f" in the upper left hand corner.

According to Secunia and Avast all of my programs are up to date.

Please answer in simple terms.

Thanks, Bernadine

You appear to have installed a few extensions that can block content. The 'f' means that Flashblock is blocking content.

If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

At first glance that would appear to be the problem, but all of the blockers are turned off for those sites I sent to you. And FF still doesn't work though it worked with all of the blockers turned on before this problem started. There is something else going wrong.

I see other people have had this problem too.

The one reply assumed I hadn't unblocked the sites so that I could view the video. Just to make sure, I went back and checked and all the blockers are off. Also, if something is blocking the video, then why is there a picture of the start of the video like it's ready to play and and does "play" but in still pictures as I move the play circle across the bar below the video? That's the screenshot I can't take because as soon as I take the cursor off of the circle to make the screenshot, the video goes black.

Also this has been a progressive problem. It started just with some videos in the Cheezburger email I get and I would go to their website and it would play fine. Now the problem has progressed to their site and to some other sites, but not all.

I hope you are going to help with this, I don't want to be forced into using another browser but I do have some videos I want to watch. I really don't like IE, Chrome is a severe pain, and I really do like FF and would like to continue using it.

Thank you, Bernadine
