running windows XP; forefox 4.0.1; no history saved, tabs will not return even tho "show my windows and tabs. . . ." is set in "when firefox starts:". What gives?? how do I get firefox 3.x.x back, please???
just what I wrote!(no history; no return of tabs from previous session). Also, no session restore, no 'little bluebird' to the left of tabs (app tab), no bookmark button to the right of the home page button. Was this 4.0.1 not for Windows XP????? HELP!!!

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)
