I was recently grandfathered into a subscription of $5/month, and I am having an error message now on Mozilla VPN saying that I am not subscribed and should start a subscription, even though I just got a bill from Apple (where I started the subscription) today. I don't know what caused this, but I am frustrated that I am being billed for a product that will not work.

Hmm, why would you get a bill from Apple? Can you share a link to the Apple page for Mozilla VPN? You can break the link by inserting a space before the .com (or other top level domain in the address) to bypass the moderation queue.

The Apple App store has mozilla VPN, which is located at the collowing link: https://apps.apple .com/us/app/mozilla-vpn-secure-private/id1489407738

  • link broken into two part with a space between the domain and " .com"

Thanks. That is news to me. I don't know how you connect the in-app payment to Apple to your Firefox Account.

I have this same problem. Has anyone gotten an answer as to how to fix it?

Here's what I see... first a screen saying I need to subscribe. Then I get a popup that says I'm subscribed already. Then the screen says I need to subscribe.

It looks like there used to be an easy fix for this but then someone removed it - https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/mozilla-vpn-client/issues/380

There used to be a restore subscription feature but it was removed - https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/mozilla-vpn-client/issues/380

At this point, I've already just given up on Mozilla VPN. I loved it, but with the price change and the fact that I don't have the subscription I was kicked off of, I didn't have any incentive to keep trying to fix it. I just considered to go and swap directly to Mullvad VPN, which is the original VPN provider, anyways. They've got a better app anyways and less pricing mumbo-jumbo.

Blake, it turns out there is a workaround that I found. What I did was cancel my subscription through Apple, then I "bought" the subscription again through the app. The app showed the wrong price ($9.99 / mo) but the Apple purchase pop up showed the right price. It also showed that I'd only be billed after my existing canceled subscription ended.

As soon as I accepted the future subscription the app let me back in. Hope that helps to get your paid subscription back if there's still time on it.
