Since Firefox updated a few days ago, I cannot log into my bank account from home. I got a TLS Error report that I submitted. Google is fine, no problem at all. And, yes, I have cleared cookies, history, cache, etc. This is why I left Mozilla the first time; always something new they spring on an update without sharing first.

TLS Error Reports

Some websites make use of a technology called TLS to ensure your connection to the site is encrypted. Firefox protects you by preventing navigation to such sites if there is a problem in securely establishing a connection. You may be given the option to report certain types of error should this occur.

Works fine here:

  • Connection Encrypted (TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_128_GCM_SHA256, 128 bit keys, TLS 1.2)

Can you attach a screenshot?

  • Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

Tried all that. Clear cache and history all the time. Safe mode doesn't work either. My Norton toolbar won't work with this update. what's going on Mozilla?

See:

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

So yesterday, I had an update an it said Norton toolbar wasn't compatible and disabled it. But today you tell me that's all fixed. Honestly. And spyware? malware? that only affects Firefox and not Google? Pretty unlikely don't you think? And only since your update? You can do better than that.
