On Saturday morning 27 June 2026 I tried to login my Orcon email account via Thunderbird (which I have been using for a long time). But my login didn't work, I got a message saying "login to POP3.orcon.net.nz with username habitation failed." On 30th June 2026 I reported the problem to Orcon.

Orcon gave me the following settings for Thunderbird. I have done that and even made a new account: Incoming Server Type: IMAP Mail Server: imap.orcon.net.nz Port: 143 SSL: Off Authentication: On (username and password required)

Outgoing SMTP Server: Mail Server: smtp.orcon.net.nz Port: 25 SSL: Off Authentication: Off

Since then I have spent many hours and going around in circles with Orcon's Technical Support to resolve this, but no luck. They blame Thunderbird. I used Thunderbird Troubleshoot Mode. The message that comes up reads: login to server mail orcon.net.nz with username habitation failed. Please can you check that your server settings above are correct? And if there is a bug? Irma

Hello; I have been using Mozilla Thunderbird for many years on my PC and was wondering if I can start using my account on my Ipad or Iphone as yet?

Each time I open TBird, I get a message at the bottom left of the screen telling me that TBird has deleted X number of messages. I do not want TBird to ever delete any messages. How do I turn this automatic delete function off?

As of July 1, I no longer have access to my school account. It was a gmail account that ended in .edu. I have new email account that end in gmail.com When I open Thunderbird it asks me to sign into the deleted account which I no longer have access to. I can receive email in my new accounts but am not able to send email from them. I need to disconnect completely from my old school account but do not know how to do this. Thank you.

I’m reaching out because I’m having trouble with my Thunderbird email and need some assistance.

I was using Thunderbird without any issues before, but now all my old emails have disappeared. I can still receive new messages, but I’m unable to send emails like I used to. I also can’t recover or view any of my previous emails.

It seems like something may have reset or become corrupted, and I’m not sure how to restore my old messages or fix the sending issue.

Could you please help me get Thunderbird working properly again and recover my old emails if possible?

I'm currently using the thunderbird client to open a zoho mail account. I've set several filters (around 40) so that incoming emails are automatically redirected to the appropiate folder. If I click on the download/refresh icon (the little cloud with the downwards arrow), new email isn't received. On the bottom, a small message appears ("No new messages on the server" or something like this). You may think that that is precisely because I don't have new emails but if directly go into any of the folders and once again click on the download/refresh icon all of the emails that were supposed to go into that particular folder appear all at once (even mails that are 2 or 3 days old). Now every day I have to go into all of my 40 folders and click on the refresh button.

It's very odd. Normally moving an email, say from the Inbox to the relevant year's archive, takes "no time at all".

Which is true for all the mailboxes shown on the attached screenshot, EXCEPT for the four at the bottom. Moving even one message from Inbox to Yiddish can take ten seconds or longer (with the dreaded "Not Responding" occasionally). Moving something in the opposite direction is also screwy, only from those four.

I had thought that it was because they're rather large. This first started when there were just Yiddish and MSW, and I split off most of the earlier years into the archives shown. To no avail.

It's only an annoyance, but I'm puzzled about how such a thing could happen.

Also very slow tagging or untagging a message just in those mailboxes.

Unfortunately I could not add a screenshot to this message. Under my account belonje24@zonnet.nl there is a "Postvak IN". This means inbox. In this inbox should new mails appear. Right now there comes nothing in it. However, two lines below there is suddenly another "Postvak IN 22". New emails appear here now. I already tried to drag this inbox into the inbox under belonje24@zonnet.nl but that doesn't work.

New emails now appear with a yellow bar: The text in the yellow bar at the bottom says: (I translated)

No unique identity was found matching the sender address. The message will be sent using the sender field and the settings of the identity Martin Belonje <belonje24@zonnet.nl>.

To my opinion this has to do with the fact that the inbox has moved from its original position.

I hope you can help me out.

I have an hotmail.com account with no problems whatsoever while logging into Apple Mail, G-Mail etc. but when it comes to Thunderbird it does not let me login. I tried to login first to outlook itself, changing the servers ports etc. but nothing works.

For refrence my current server settings are: Incoming (IMAP): Server: outlook.office365.com Port: 993 Security SSL/TSL and OAuth2

Outgoing (SMTP): Server: smtp.office365.com Port: 587 Security: STARTTLS with OAuth2

Windooze 11. TBird 152.0 installed on June 20th. Now it seems like TBird is not displaying HTML emails properly. They are displayed but not at the beginning. The first line is sometimes just the bottom half of a sentence in the email (if that makes sense). I can't scroll back to the beginning. If I go to outlook and display the same email it displays fine.

Did something change in 152.0 to cause this?

I have about a dozen accounts with over 50 folders, most with a matching filter. About 100k messages, taking up about 1G of disk space. All but one account is merged under my Inbox to have fewer duplicate In/Draft/Sent boxes eating up window space. I'm using 152.0.1 (aarch64) Release branch on a Mac OS X 26. All are POP accounts on a DreamHost server.

At some point it started to show the draft message on every email, which means on incoming as well. I've had this phenomenon for years.

Recently filtering has started to not automatically run on some emails forcing me to run the filters manually. I've run the repair folder options which does not seem to make any difference.

Since switching to macOS 26 it also does not allow me to move Thunderbird child windows, they simply show up on the default location. But that's for another ticket.

After Thunderbird 152.0.1 Windows x64 lost its mind:

* my main calendar
* not allow recreation from backup data
* would not load profile

I had no option but to remove and reinstall.

Local Folders has 4 non-removeable folders Drafts - XXxxxx, Sent, Trash and Outbox that were not there in the past 20 years.

I've been using TB for many years, and without warning, when it tries to down load my mail from the Proton mail server, it says it can't find the folder "Inbox". I've tried to "repair" that folder a couple times unsuccessfully. I've restarted the TB program a couple times, but nothing changes. The error shows up on the bottom "instruction line". I've gone through all my settings and find nothing amiss. Not sure where to go from here. -- Just noticed that I had about 80 emails in that Inbox folder that are now missing completely. Normally, I move read emails to there respective folders, and leave important ones in the Inbox for followup. One significant note here, is I'm still using Win 7 premium. I'm trying to move from Windows to Linux without downloading all my imap messages again. What I've tried: 1. Install tbird on Linux, create new profile. 2. Close tbird. 3. Using Linux file manager,

 - delete contents of new profile folder
 - copy contents of old profile folder into new folder
 - delete Compatibility.ini in the copy

4. Open tbird with -p (profile manager)

I've tried twice with different results. The first time at step 4 I started offline. Thunderbird opened will all my previous tabs open, except that all the internet tabs reported connection failure - as expected. Under account settings, both local folders and my gmail account reported the correct (new, linux) path. When I went online and completed the gmail OAuth dialog thunderbird reported an inbox summary folder error, and deleted all the imap mbox files. I closed and restarted tbird- which failed with a crash dump. the terminal window reported successful minidump creation- the file manager showed the minidump file at zero size.

I repeated the process (recreating the original unmodified profile). This time at step 4 I started online, and tbird never opened- it generated the crash dump immediately.

Two questions: 1. Is it possible to transfer an imap profile and avoid re-downloading all the old messages? 2. What am I doing wrong that I'm getting the crash dumps?

I've had issues with google and microsoft, changed passwords, now I get credentials messages when Bird tries to get email. I know its because of my password changes but can't fix it. (I edited this because I said authentification before instead of credentials)

We are undergoing an accessibility audit of all our information communication technology solutions for a local government entity. This audit is to ensure our compliance with the updated Americans with Disabilities Act Title II Rule on Web Content and Mobile App Accessibility regulations in advance of the April 2027 enforcement date.

Does an Accessibility Conformance Report or VPAT with the WCAG standards used and conformance level noted exist for Thunderbird? We are hoping to find these for Thunderbird Desktop as well as Thunderbird Mobile (iOS and Android).

Why is thunderbird constantly coming up with an authentification failure while trying to connect to outlook.office365.com every time i try to access my hotmail emails? this is becoming painful last week zero access to hotmail then worked for a few days now nothing again.
