Running FF 48.0.2 on Win XP, view source slows everything?

Hi Folks If I view source, a new tab is opened, small files have no impact, all runs smoothly. With moderate or larger files, it starts to churn, taking its time. Then when I close the tab, wait-wait-wait-wait, the tab eventually closes but a gap remains up top for a while like a shadow. Response on other open tabs are then affected by the same time lag. This can also happen occasionally when re-opening a closed tab.

Just wondering if there may be any answers out there

Thanks ideato, there is some improvement, but the overall symptons still persist. At a guess, 20/30% quicker.
