FF Version 42.0, Windows 10 machine. (sticking with ver.42 since the latest version crashes for some reason)

I installed Java with the latest version after completely uninstalling older version. Except in the Add-on Manager there is no Java plugin listed and I am getting the dreaded "A plugin is needed to display this content" when I go to this page, http://www.bmw-planet.com/diagrams/release/us/e38new/index.htm The page loads and runs fine in IE. I checked the page against FireBug and as you can see the applet is in a frameset/frame, the rest of the page loads fine so I know it's not a frame issue.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Java twice and since it runs fine in IE I do not think it's a Java issue, any ideas?

hi mgfranz, that's to be expected - firefox 64bit versions for windows come with limited plugin support - only flash and silverlight are supported. if you depend on other npapi plugins please continue to use regular 32bit builds.

Thanks for the help, but I thought I installed FF 32 bit, how can I verify? I know I installed the 32 bit Java.

the user agent of the browser you've posted the question with was firefox 42 64bit - you can get the either version from the download page at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

Ok thanks, is it possible to install both 64 and 32 bit versions?

i wouldn't recommend that. if you'd like to do that i guess the easiest way is to use a portable version of firefox which is contained to its installation folder and uses its own profile as well (those are supplied by a third party): http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable
