We have about 5 users who have had Firefox refuse to open. In Task Manager the firefox.exe is running. When we Run as Administrator, it sometimes works, but soon quits working. We have tried the Firefox ESR 38.2 and that worked for a day or two. I have deleted their profiles and installed Firefox fresh with no add-ons, still a day or two later it fails to open. We have turned off hardware acceleration, no change. The only thing I can think I haven't done is to clean out the registry.

5 users = all on the same PC? Or it that with workstations and Profiles on a server?

Any type of custom configuration for when installing Firefox?

See if anything here helps you: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-wont-start-find-solutions

5 users, 5 different workstations. 4 are developers, 1 general use. Tried full uninstalls, appdata: etc, fresh install, no add-ons/extensions. Run as Administrator is the only thing two of my users have found to work.

No server profiles. No custom configurations.

Shut down Firefox. Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86)

Right click on Firefox.exe and select Properties. Now select Compatibility. Turn Off Run This Program In Compatibility Mode, and Run This Program As An Administrator.

Do the same for any Firefox shortcuts you have. Now restart Firefox.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
