Once again a FF update breaks one of my MAJOR add ons (PASSWORDBOX)
My partner and I just upgraded each of our computers to Win 10x64... Firefox and password box were working FINE after the upgrade.. this morning my partner couldn't find PB in FF.... so after 30 mins of bang our heads against the wall (uninstalling, rebooting PC, reinstall (as admin), the PB icon was still missing from the FF toolbar... It was still in add ins but now with a compatibility warning... with an OPTION to disable it... so even running, it's still not working in V40
so I went to my computer.. and FF and PB worked just fine.. both systems are identical alien-ware aurora r4 computers with 16GB RAM.. PLENTY of HD space, etc, etc
HOWEVER, once i hit HELP and about on MY FF, it FORCED me to v40!!! and that made my PB vanish... now I can't get into any of my banking, face, and all my websites and I use VERY complex PWs that can not be possible remembered which is why we use PB
The auto updating of FF constantly is getting annoying because it's constantly causing havoc with add ons...
SO until FF can fix this (or PB updates their software - which only happens 2X/year.. so I'm assuming FF must fix this)
all I need are 2 things from the FF people to make this right:
v39.03 INSTALL FILE INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO PERMANENTLY SHUT OFF AUTO UPDATED TO FIRE FOX. I don't even let windows auto update. it notifies me updates are there, and I decide when, and if, to DL and install them... I want to be able to decide WHEN to upgrade my FF please!

I was able to solve...
1a) FIRST go to tools, options, ADVANCED, then UPDATE
1b) Then tell FF to NEVER check for updates. You can still manually update it by going to HELP then ABOUT
2) Download FF 39.03 from: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-older-version-of-firefox
Note: When I did it 20 mins ago, it let me have 39.03, now it only shows 38.05.. but I tested it, and that works too
After you tell FF to never update, and download the install file, shutdown FF and reinstall it. It will say it is "upgrading"
It should start and password box will work as normal
I HIGHLY recommend NOT upgrading FF until FF or PB fixes this (but since FF updates almost weekly and PB 2Xs/yr, I think this is FF's responsibility to fix as the add worked FINE until v40). I LOVE FF. It's my most preferred browser (but I'm stuck with Safari on my iPadAir2... BUT BUT...FF is updated, IMO, too frequently and it disrupts add ons because they definitely don't have time to test them all... IMO FF should ALWAYS default to let a user know a FF upgrade is available but NOT auto-install it unless the person CHOOSES that option

Same buggy addons on Mac. 1password is the first Passwords manager for Apple and its addon bugs. Even in safe boot no more history
Hi Lajeunesse, you may qualify for a free upgrade to a newer version of 1password. See: https://support.1password.com/v3-extension-firefox/
