I have been unable to set a Gmail email account on two of my computers, having succeeded initially on my main one. All proceeds well until I get to the point of connecting to the account and get a code 400 error message from Google. This has happened repeatedly over a week, on two separate Macs, one running Ventura 13.7.5 with Thunderbird 141.0 and the other Monterey 12.7.6 and 140.0.1. However, I can set the account up using Apple Mail on both machines! I run Integro antivirus on all machines. I have been through the process of clearing cookies, restarting etc a number of times. It seems there is a conflict somewhere between Thunderbird and Google. I much prefer Thunderbird so please help!

I am missing some sub folders and also can not create new subfolders. A saved profile does have those subfolders in it but will not show in thunderbird. When I try to create subfolders the "Create Subfolder" is greened out. I have a very old profile from Windows 10 but Idon't what to use it as I would lose my latest emails which are important. What parts of the thunderbird program could be causing this and how do I get my subfolders to show in Thunderbird if they are in the profile.

An error message is repeating at random times asking to provide credentials for imap.gmail.com. When I select to proceed, a 400 error occurs indicting "the serve cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried". When I check google, email directly, there does not appear to be any problem with the account. What might cause this problem?

Hello,

I write because today I found that many email which were saved on some local folders have been deleted I did not that, and cannot figure out how that could happen I checked the Thunderbird setting for retention but found nothing useful I have set the option "Don't delete any message" at any level

Now I need an add-on for Thunderbird which herlps me to undelete the lost messages When I select any local folder's properties it shows me that the size of the folder is not zero, altough the folder appears to be empty That means that the deleted messages are still on the disk Could you please point me to any add-on or package for Thunderbird which can undelete deleted emails ?

My Thunderbird version is 115.18.0 (64-bit) on Linux Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

For quite some time now, I have been getting a Quota Warning that I was nearing my 10.0 GB limit. Now the program shows that the 10.0 GB limit has been reached, I eliminated a large amount of my emails recently but that action did not make any difference in the Quota Warnings. I was still able to send and receive mail, so I put the Quota Warning into a filter that would automatically send it to the trash folder. Now, after apparently reaching the full 10.0 GB limit, I have lost a vast number of emails I had in various folders. So, I downloaded and installed your newest version and hoped that the problem was solved. I still got the red percentage bar in the lower right hand corner of the pane, indicating the 10.0 GB limit had been reached. So, I went into my Inbox and deleted about 150 messages in there. Now the red warning is not showing in the lower right corner. Was my deletion of the messages in my Inbox effective in affecting this change? Why were my other archived and stored email messages deleted? The fact that they are gone did not, apparently have any bearing on the 10.0 GB limitation. Only the volume of messages in the Inbox has any bearing upon the limitation. Is the IMAP selection rather than the POP3 selection in the settings the place where the 10.0 GB limitation can be eliminated? It would be nice to know the answers to these questions along with a little explanation about why the limitation warning is so vague. Losing mail that you have tried to segregate and preserve is disturbing. Just trying to be nice. I hope you will be too.

I installed Thunderbird 140 today and I have discovered that I can’t delete some messages, while deleting others are completely unaffected. There’s nothing special about these particular emails, but no matter what I do, it just will not delete.

This is not normal and never happened before the update, so what can I do to solve this problem?

I´ve used Gmail through Thunderbird for many years now, mainly because I prefer your treestructure. After changing laptop I discovered that a new map had entered the tree, which turned out to be Gmail´s map "Important" (Viktigt in Swedish). Important stores ALL incoming mail, now over 3 700! There are "only" under 400 in the Incoming map. If I erase a mail from Important it will also be erased from the Incoming map, and vice versa. Important should be for me to decide if a mail should be temporarely stowed there. Can you tell how to clean out only the Important? Best regards and thanks

A mail folder appears suddenly corrupted. The imap folder in question is duplicated but both folders are empty. In my Profile Folder the three associated files/folders have been duplicated - the new variants have weird file names. See screenshot.

If someone can advise on the best strategy to fix this I would be most grateful!

In the past I have had no problems creating email subfolders for the various accounts I have configured. Specifically, my folder structure hierarchy for the problem at hand looks like this:

MyAccountName |- Templates {what is this? A system folder?} |- Expected subfolder A |- Expected subfolder B |- etcetera

When I try to create a new subfolder directly under MyAccountName (right click on MyAccountName > New Folder), Thunderbird creates the folder, but as a subfolder of the account inbox. I can't drag it from my inbox down to MyAccountName. I don't want it as an inbox subfolder, I want it in line with the rest of my subfolder hierarchy. Does this weird "Templates" thing have anything to do with it? And what am I doing wrong?

From the moment i changed my mobile phone end august, which I used as internet connection for my 2 computers, connected by a usb cable to each computer, connection by cable is now on refused, so i had to install wifi connection which works. BUT => from my address michel.balawender@wanadoo.fr, host orange, thunderbird ask repetitively password, and refuses any sending. Once I had somebody to check : a new installation of thunderbird did work ... for 2 days. Then somebody did change my password at orange contract, (which caused hours for getting back again all messages); it worked for one day ... I have no problem with other mailing adresses for instance gmail. There after, my help message in french without any help from ubuntu forum. Thank you for your benevolence. Michel Balawender

Problème récurrent sur mes 2 pc "Échec de la connexion depuis le serveur smtp.orange avec le nom d'utilisateur "adresse mail". Saisir un nouveau mot de passe => annuler => réessayer"

Je reçois des mails, mais impossible d'en envoyer à partir de thunderbird. Un informaticien m'avait supprimé l'adresse mail chez orange, puis l'a re créée avec un nouveau mdp, sur chacun de mes pc.

Eh bien patatras, ça recommence sur le pc fixe d'abord (version thunderbird 102.11.0) puis le pc portable (version 115.16.0) est contaminé. Je suis passé entretemps de la 16.04 à la 18.04.6 sur le fixe, et suis sur la 20.04 sur le portable : je n'ai pas le sentiment que la version d'ubuntu soit concernée par le pb.

Il faut donc que je règle le pb créé par thunderbird. En attendant, je passe par l'application mail orange, ce qui est bien fastidieux.

J'ai fouillé sur le forum, sans trouver de piste. Merci pour votre bienveillance.

День добрый! Был архив почты, который всегда открывался. Сегодня почта пуста, нет писем и ничего более. Проблема вся в том, что я когда-то работал в компании, которая уже закрылась и больше не работает, а почту использовал как базу данных. Теперь у меня нет доступа не к почте, не к базе данных. Что делать в такой ситуации?

Hi, I have been using Thunderbird for a long time and never had any issues until last Thursday. I was able to connect to my ISP email server but it ended up showing no new emails even though I know that I have emails as I am able to see them on my iPhone. So thinking that something changed, I removed my account details from Thunderbird and try to reconnect. The first stage, the detection of my ISP email server passed with no problems.

So after seeing this, I click on the Done button and then the problem arises.

Now to cover some other important information. I talked with my ISP and we checked the configuration manually that is shown in both attachments and they were completely correct to their files. No deviation in any manner. We trip POP3 and also IMAP settings and still got the same error as the second attachment. I and the tech support person from my ISP also checked the typing of my password, the original one and even the new password 10x. I also typed each character of my password slowly, just in case I typed it wrong having it visible to me and invisible to me and still got the same error as the second attachment. Also the images are from today January 29, 2025 approximately from the last 20 minutes. So this is fresh for an attempt to connect to my ISP email server, not just from some previous attempt.

Hopefully I can get a work around from the forum. Oh, one more thing I have the latest Mozilla Thunderbird that is available and that is Version 128.6.1esr (64-bit) as I had updated it before I attempted to connect to the ISP email server. I have done no uninstalls.

Thunderbird Collected addresses

I had Thunderbird suddenly quit responding last night. None of my past emails or menus or panels showed or anything. Just everything gray. I tried reloading, looking at settings, etc., and finally ended up uninstalling and reinstalling. That brought my email back, and my old emails, but no address book contents. I finally got the address book loading screens, and when I loaded in the Collected address book using the automatic import feature, I got 8800 gobbledygook meaningless entries. I can't find a legit profile folder for any legible addresses, so I am going to simply re-create my 50 or so addresses, but I need to get rid of 8800+ garbage address book entries.

HOWEVER, these 8800 meaningless, mostly empty, addresses are clogging up my Collected Addresses, and I have tried Mozilla's advice, Windows 10's advice, etc. through several means, to EMPTY this address file. It's the same old problem of nothing works, or the instructions are invalid for the latest version ( just like Windows 10 ! ). I am surely not going to hand-delete 8800 bad addresses ! Is there no straightforward way to EMPTY an entire address folder ? It does not seem so. I have even tried all the "You should be able to ..." suggestions online. I am stuck. I understand I cannot delete the folder proper; I just want to clear it out. Thanks for any help.
