Hello,
I am using Thunderbird on a Win 10 PC, with Bitdefender AV. Thunderbird crashes shortly after opening, generally within a few, say 10s. Crash reports are generated and sent.
The most recent are; bp-f3259bbe-b088-477a-b6da-aa4550250119 bp-95774bbe-10bb-4026-be18-685030250119 bp-f62abd3b-4597-417d-b05c-36ff30250119 bp-55073989-ed27-4b83-a4ac-d677a0250116 bp-601e3185-8abd-4123-b3a2-5dfa10250116 bp-b3c6d9bd-55a3-420a-b917-937aa0250114
The crashes continue when safe mode is used. Nothing else seems to be affected.
Any help and advice would be appreciated.
Charlie.

Thunderbird checks an email you are composing for the word "attached" and if it finds it, warns you that you may have forgotten to attach a file.
Can I add the word "stegys" as a synonym for "attached" ? This is the Cornish word for attached. Alternatively, if I add the Thunderbird Cornish dictionary, would Thunderbird warn me when it finds "stegys" in the text. I already have an excellent Cornish dictionary extension for Libre Office, and as such it seems overkill to add a second dictionary as I can spell check text in Writer and then paste it into Thunderbird. So adding a synonym would be my preferred option.
Many thanks in advance.

I need to change my email provider from Yahoo to tuta mail but cannot find a method to take the one away and introduce the other, HOW?

My most recent update is VERY difficult to understand and use. Is there any other way to ask for help with the endless really simple puzzles that this new TBird brings. I don't get any answers in this forum - or there may be answers but I can't find them. Where do users go to get quick how-to-do-it answers?

3/30/2025 FILELINK NOT OFFERED
Recently when sending a large file, I was offered the option to use FILELINK. I don’t remember the exact message text, but I believe it was a simple “Yes/No”. I responded “No” and I got another message offering a choice to never ask about FILELINK again. I thought that it was referring only to that specific message. Since then, when I want to send a file even larger than the one that got the FILELINK message before, I’m not getting the option to use FILELINK. I believe that FILELINK is a useful tool. What do I need to do to get it back?
Thanks for your help, SweetTasha

I am running Thunderbird 115.18.0 (64-bit) on Linux Mint 21.3 Virginia (base: Ubuntu 22.04 jammy). My goal is to create an offline copy of a 13 GB gmail account in local folders and then delete all the custom IMAP folders to regain some free space in gmail storage.
I am achieving this by: 1) Setting up an IMAP account in Thunderbird for the gmail account. 2) Enabling local storage of all folders (in Settings and set config flag, etc). Changed gmail settings to unlimit the number of IMAP downloads. Set Thunderbird account concurrent connections to 15 (gmail max). a) Edit/Preferences/Advanced/General/Config Editor: mail.server.default.check_all_folders_for_new = true 3) Click on each IMAP folder in Thunderbird to initiate download of that folder. I don't see this documented anywhere but it doesn't seem to download the messages in each folder until I do this. 4) Turn Thunderbird offline and ask it to download all emails before going offline. 5) Copy all folders from the gmail account in thunderbird to local storage. 6) Turn Thunderbird back online. 6) Delete custom IMAP folders in Thunderbird gmail account to clean up gmail online storage.
In my mind, step 2 should be enough to force a download of all emails in all IMAP folders. I added steps 3 and 4 because it's unclear when this process is complete. Especially given gmail IMAP bandwidth limits: https://support.google.com/a/answer/1071518?hl=en
My questions relates to step 3 and 4. In step 3, I don't really have any way to know when Thunderbird has finished downloading all emails from all the gmail IMAP folders. I'm experiencing the typical gmail login issues and throttling due to too many concurrent connections and given this it could take days if Thunderbird can even keep track of which messages downloaded and which got errors back from gmail.
How do I know when Thunderbird has finished downloading messages prior to going offline? Does it notify me with a dialog or do I just have to keep hovering over the Offline toggle periodically until it actually says offline?
Any constructive tips on how to confirm everything is downloaded or process improvements, etc.
Thanks, pi

MERCI d'avance

Hi all:
Before sending an e-mail, I want check that a particular word (like "my secret") is not in the message body.
Is there any way to do this? I couldn't find any add-on to that end.
If there isn't anything like that, is there any add-on (or an easy way) to run a user-defined script before sending an e-mail? I could then try to write some simple JavaScript code in order to search the message body for a number of words I want to be alerted about.
Failing that, I could use an add-on like Keyword Highlight to automatically highlight unwanted words, but that add-on has been abandoned and does not work anymore. Is there anything similar? I am thinking about something like spell checking, but in reverse, where certain words get underlined in red.
Thanks in advance,

Hi, I'm trying to import all my emails from Outlook 2019 (5GB) on Windows 10 in KVM , TB 137.0.1 During the import process starts to hang / freeze after having imported about 1.4GB. When I check the task manager for activity, there is non. I.e. CPU activity is very low (where it should be about 80 - 100%) and no disk activiy is going on for about 30 min. I close Thunderbird, but I can't reopen TB. It says it's already open. So I kill the tb process. Then I re-open TB and it has about 1.4GB of e-mail imported. crash reports bp-2189a8c5-f639-4dd2-abfb-257f10250408 bp-34687354-02bc-4ebe-90fc-855d20250408
Is there something that can be done to fix the issue?
Thanks & Regards, Hermann

I posted a similar question earlier, and although I never got any useful advice, the problem of random emails disappearing from my PC seems to have resolved itself after a week or so. However the problem has now turned up again, but this time on my husband's PC (both PCs are running Windows 10 and latest version of Thunderbird). None of the three accounts on his PC is receiving emails, although Thunderbird correctly enters the number of 'unread' emails and updates it when more arrive. The emails do arrive on my own PC and on my Apple devices (all of these also receive email for all three Thunderbird accounts), but they do not arrive on his desktop PC: the only way he can read his email at present is for me to forward it from the inbox on one of my devices to his Gmail account. If I do this, Tbird seems to recognize that the email has been opened and read, and on his PC the number of unread messages is updated (it might be worth noting that the number appears in grey, not blue as usual). He is able to send new emails from Tbird, although of course he is unable to reply to the messages that are not displayed there. It is particularly annoying because most of the missing mail is either business related or updates on medical appointments, etc.
I really cannot understand this problem, and am probably not explaining it very well. Thunderbird on his PC seems to recognize that new emails are coming in to all three accounts, because the number of unread messages updates, but the messages themselves are not being displayed (I've looked for them in junk, deleted, etc., but no luck). There are no filters set up to redirect things (except a few to send scams to junk). And all the emails are coming in fine to all three accounts on my PC, as well as my Apple devices & our server's webmail function.
If anyone can help, we would be very grateful. We are long-time Thunderbird users, and would hate to have to give it up and learn something new. Many thanks.

Cannot change the font colour when creating an email on mac. I would have thought this should be pretty basic.. ie highlight the font and then select the font colour from the menu and choose a colour. Its seems when you choosing the colour from the mac colour picker the hex code in the thunderbird window and hence the colour does not update. If you manually type in the hex code in the thunderbird font colour picker then the colour can be changed which would be very painful.

Running into a strange issue where the welcome message page does not go away when clicking between messages. I already attempted to remove the message pane all together. (F8) but nothing seems to make it go away. Usually upon launching Thunderbird it will show the welcome message but will go away when navigating between messages.
I want to read an e-mail without it being marked as read. How do I do that? It works in the client for my PC.

Comment faire?
