Hello, Today i was working on a friend laptop, i was using the private browser while i was downloading a very sensitive files, after closing the private window i couldn’t find the files is that normal? Also, do you think that the files might be found, or they gone for life? Cuz i don’t wanna my friend to maybe find them one day.
A download keeps popping up each time I open the browser. Deleting it, removing the history, nothing works to get rid of it.

I have just spent a long time looking for PDFs I really need and when I closed Firefox it deleted every single PDF in my downloads folder (including ones that weren't downloaded during this session)
The PDFs weren't just opened as a website in Firefox, I've downloaded all of them as permanent files and just opened them in Firefox to confirm they work.
I have set my browser to automatically delete download history so I can't redownload them that way (and I would prefer to keep this setting on), however I have never set Firefox to automatically delete any kind of downloaded file (I don't know if this is even available in settings).
I have also checked my antivirus quarantine just in case, but it is empty so I doubt anything was deleted due to possibility of malware.
Is there any way to prevent Firefox from doing this and is there any way I could restore the files. At this point, I can't even begin to remember everything that I may have lost due to this bug and searching and downloading everything manually again may take me days.

Since the installation of the last 2 beta releases, the folder which I have selected downloads to be placed in is being completely ignored.
In FF settings, I have selected downloads to be saved to my desktop. FF ignores that and downloads all selected downloads to my Documents folder. This is not what I'm after and I didn't have this issue with the Beta versions before.
Are any other Beta users experiencing the same issue with the latset beta release?

1. Downloaded the latest GIMP Version 3.0.4 from the Gimp Homepage.
2. Opened the "Download" Icon after download was completed and clicked the downloaded file "gimp-3.0.4-setup.exe".
3. Received the message "This version of GIMP requires Windows 10, or a newer version of Windows."
4. Opened the Windows "Downloads" folder directly.
5. Clicked the file "gimp-3.0.4-setup.exe." directly.
6. The app installed without an error.
Tried this a few times and the error message only appears when the exe-file is clicked from within the Firefox "Download" Icon
Checked in the properties of the exe-file and no "Compatibility mode" is set.

so I personally never use the Download Directory, because I anyway always select the Download location. but even though I set the location to XYZ it creates a ~/Download Directory. I Also tired to set the default download location directly to my Home directory, but it still creates the ~/Download Directory.
I am not sure if it's a bug or if I can disable it, or if Firefox need too do it. but it becomes annoying to always delete the ~/Download Directory.
maybe it is an OS septic problem? (ArchLinux btw) but I highly doubt that.
so why does it always, and I mean always create a ~/Download Directory when I download, even though I never selected it, it's Just empty e.c.t.

Hello,
I have noticed an issue with the download process. Perhaps it can be easily fixed. ( Is this the right place to report? )
Downloading a duplicate of a .tar.xz archive results in a corruption of the name extension, as the suffix should be placed one dot before;
ie. "fileName(2).tar.xz" and not "fileName.tar(2).xz" ;
It actually seamed a couple of times to be a corrupted download.
Thank yoouu

Problem: When I download a file and download another one right after that one, the window showing the folder I am choosing to download to won't show the file/image preview of the file I just downloaded before; it only shows the correct preview once I have opened the file manager on my OS; after doing that the file preview is up to date again. (basically, it only shows the correct file preview when I viewed the files on my desktop before opening the download window and will not keep up to date with the most recent changes on its own like it does on Windows for example)

When I didn't know what I was doing, within Settings for Firefox desktop browser for Windows 10 where you can make associations for file types or applications, I began putting choices in that I felt made sense at the time. I don't think I've made the best choices and I would like to change that entire section with the heading Content Type to the defaults that would have appeared in the Action column. Is there a way I can return the defaults only for Content Type without resetting everything in the browser to the state it was first in before I began customizing some areas? Thanks.

In Firefox, after I send a file from my desktop to my 'Downloads' file {using 'Send to' function}, and then go back to the desktop to delete the file I just sent, my screen (only the background) turns blue and without my desktop background picture appearing. Later, in piecemeal fashion, my background picture will return, or if I restart. Somehow, sending a file off my desktop, is changing something on my screen.

When I open a pdf file it is automatically saved to my desktop, which is my selected location. I have also checked the always ask where to save files. In settings I have indicated I want pdf files to be opened by Foxit Reader. Other files set to ask open or save.
I also have gone in into about:config and set browser.download.open_pdf_attachments_inline to true based on a previous reply in this forum about this issue.
What can I do to stop the PDF files from being automatically saved to my desktop?
