Recently Mint upgraded my FF to v147 - possibly relevant, possibly not. There's no post mentioning anyone having this issue on the Mint forum though.

In my Settings, "Open previous windows and tabs" is definitely enabled, but it doesn't happen. I only get my homepage custom URLs.

I went into troubleshooting mode and FF then behaves.

So I figured the issue must be with an extension - but I disabled all my extensions, and it doesn't help. Only going full troubleshooting mode fixes it.

What do I do next please?

Thanks for taking the time to look at this, simply put I am using the 'workspaces' app in windows power toys which allows me to open windows in specific configurations to make a workspace. The app allows me to open other apps with CLI args, so I can open Firefox to a preset url, or even predefined set of tabs.

This has got me wanting to use my firefox tab groups as a way of opening "dynamic" windows in my workspace. All that would be needed is a way to open a specific tab group from CLI, or more specifically a CLI arg that I can input into power toys workspace.

Please let me know if there is a way to do this. I checked the Firefox CLI [https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/CommandLineOptions|documentation] and didn't find anything though.

Three days ago this started happening. When I mouse over the Firefox icon on my task bar, I get a long vertical list of open tabs, the majority of which are blank. When you try to click the X (that appears on the right side of the list when you mouse over a blank space) nothing happens. In the past few days it showed a random mix of blank tabs and open tabs. Yesterday it only showed the open tabs at the top with a long list of blanks below. And today it's only showing the one tab I have active (despite having up to five tabs open before I took the picture).

Before this all started happening, it used to show large tab previews (not just text) that run horizontally along the bottom of my screen when I hover my mouse over the Firefox icon on the taskbar. Now it's just a list that goes vertically with all these blank tabs.

How to return things to normal? (tab previews horizontally without blanks)

I'm running Windows 11 Home, Version 25H2, OS build 26200.7623 and Firefox: 147.0.1 (64-bit)

When I start Firefox on Windows it does not open all the Windows it had last time even though that option is selected in settings. It seems random on which Windows open.

Then I start one Window at a time and restore my tabs from bookmarks. Once I have done that I have all the Windows in the order I want, with the tabs I want.

Then for no apparent reason some of the Windows disappear and/or the Windows change order. This is very frustrating.

How do I get Firefox to always open the Windows in the correct order and keep them displayed in that order?

I have lost my tabs after the recent update. They used to show all tab groups in toolbar icon as mentioned here (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tab-groups) in manage tabs section. Only the groups that were open are retained, the groups which were closed are lost. They contained important tabs which I haven't bookmarked. I didn't see any policy of removal of inactive tab groups after certain time, any help would be really appreciated. I use the desktop app on Linux.

On my MacBook Pro laptop, when I minimize a Firefox tab I cannot access other apps on the laptop. I can see them, but they do not respond to a click on them until I unminimize a Firefox tab.

In the pass while on a tab inside a group[1], whenever I 'open link in new tab' it keeps the group closed, but now it forcefully opens the group. Is there setting I can press to stop this.

Due to a drive failure I had to do a fresh Windows install. Since then my Firefox has not been loading tab favicons for the tabs from my previous session when I launch it. They do not display until I click on each individual tab. I have tried poking around in about:config and turned off several lazy loading functions but nothing has fixed it. browser.sessionstore.restore_tabs_lazily and browser.sessionstore.restore_on_demand are both false with no effect on this behavior.

Any ideas for how to fix this?

I have four identity containers (container tabs) that I need to open simultaneously all the time, but doing it manually one-by-one is tedious. I want to create a one-click launcher via the command line that starts all four container tabs at once, yet I couldn’t find any switch for it in the help page I checked: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/CommandLineOptions. My selected topic "settings" actually does not really describe my tabs problem. Even though I followed instructions for entering "about:unloads" the expected webpage did not appear. All I got was the same instructions and not a page that included the table and its unload button that was said to be above it. When I select the New Page tab and right click and then select three tabs, the right-click menu only shows the option to "close three tabs." There is not an option to unload three tabs. Yikes! And when I select one tab and click on the one option to unload one tab, the selected tab does not unload. The tab does not unload. The tab does not unload. It is still there. (???) This is very frustrating! I can only close tabs. So far I can only temporarily close them. Could the problem be that I am still using Windows 10? Please advise. Thanks for reading about my problem of not being able to unload my unwanted tabs.

I have my browser startup settings set to 'open previous windows and tabs' However, every time I start up firefox, it is on the default new window screen rather than my previous tabs. This feels frustrating as I have to reopen the tabs every time.

Would it be possible to fix this?

Hello! Recently i migrate to Windows 11 25H2 and when i use sleep mode and open browser after waking PC up - browser opens without all previously opened tabs and i need always use Ctrl+Shift+T to restore them. Sure, checkbox to "restore all previous tabs" are on. BUT! If i reboot PC (via shutdown or Shift+Reboot) and launch browser - all previously opened tabs are present. Found this issue 2-3 weeks ago and still cannot fix it.

I made a tab group i saved it and closed it save memory, but i don't know how to find it to restore it I assumed after saving it there would be a list in my menu of saed tab groups for latter restore but i see nothing in the menu....

i normally have over 200 tabs open, but i've been getting lag and memory issue with my pc so I thought i'd uses this feature to close and organize some of my tabs....but i can't figure out were the menu that lists my saved tab groups...

I find that when I reopen Firefox, many of the tabs in a group are duplicated, appearing both inside and out of the tab group. Is there a fix for this or something I can do? I'm on Firefox 147, on Windows 11. Thanks.

When I open firefox it loads 14 different tabs, if you view it from the task manager in Windows. It only shows one tab, when homepage is opened initially but clearly it's loading more in the background.

I have run the troubleshoot function as well as restart app (within fierfox settings)

I have also emptied the cache

I set up a new Group with 14 tabs. From my main page I open the Group in a new window, peruse the 14 tabs, then save and close the Group. If I re-open the Group in a new window during he same main session, the Group opens in a new window perfectly. If I shut down the computer and re-open my main page a day later, AND then open the Group in a new window, one of the Group tabs opens in the main window and 13 open in the Group window. I then re-add the open tab from the main window to the open Group window. Again, I get the same behavior with all 14 tabs opening in the Group window during the same session, but only 13 in the Group window if I shut sown the computer and re-open a day later. Anyone have a solution??

Hi, Just looking into using Tab Groups. I can create a group, add or delete tabs from it, and the Save and Close Group. This Group is then visible to re-open from the List All Tabs option.

That is Great.

However, if I close Firefox, and re-open it, then that tab group has disappeared from the List All Tabs option.

Is that correct, or am I missing a setting somewhere ?
