My stored password on FireFTP is suddenly not working (not even if I enter it manually) and I haven't changed it...any suggestions?

I’ve been logging into FireFTP the same way for the past year, they last time I used it was only a few weeks ago. I tried to log on today and for some reason it keeps saying that the password I’m entering is wrong, which is weird because it was saved and I’ve never changed it! I tried manually entering the password that I have here and it’s still not working. Do you have any advice on what I should do? I downloaded the new Firefox 4.0 and the new FireFTP and that did not help. Thanks!!

Can you login to your ISP's admin page to administer the site via http(s)?

Navigate to the FTP login there and try the user name and password. Does it work? If not, then somehow the password was changed. Check to see if you can reset it.

I too had an issue for a while where FireFTP would tell me I didn't have permissions or some such, but if I just dismissed the warning (twice) then I could still function as normal. I think an update came down a few weeks later for both FF and FireFTP and now everything is normal. But it's been about a month now and no problems. Try checking for all updates on both FF and your add-ons.

If the password works from your ISPs admin console, and you have everything up to date, try creating a new account to login to in FireFTP. I had to do that once a year or so ago and it did the trick. (I had changed my FTP password, and it wouldn't work with the new one unless I created a new FTP account and deleted the old one) Technically, that sounds like a FireFTP bug to me, but it's been so long, I wasn't going to report it.

Also, from the ISP admin console, double check your FTP accounts. It could be maybe you are trying to use more than you have alloted, that perhaps sometimes you are logging out and it isn't killing the connection. Just a thought.

I actually ended up calling my web server and they had reset something and needed to re-do the password themselves, but thanks for your help!!
