this is what I get when I open a new window..

File not found

Firefox can’t find the file at moz-extension://5ef631bd-0c51-4e4e-b507-192eec977455/newtab/index.html.

Check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors.
Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.

I want to go back how it was opening with most common sites used. How do I do that

Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here:

http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html Uninstall Flash Player | Windows

http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html Uninstall Flash Player | Mac

Then reinstall the latest version.

Note: Windows users should download the active_x for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the active_x.

Flash Player Version 26.0.0.137

This is a problem with an installed extension that deals with the new tab page. Firefox uses a random machine-specific UUID instead of the previously used chrome URI to access extensions as a safeguard against fingerprinting, so you will have to check your extensions. It is possible that this UUID is broken or that the extension isn't functioning otherwise.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

This was already set at these values... thanks... Geoff.
