Trying to figure out how to stop web developer from opening. I don't want it to open but it pops up and I don't know how it does. The help shows the short cuts as ctrl / shift / and a character but it switches to the web developer and I have not hit these key. I have no use or need of Web Developer but cannot find how to turn it totally off.

Do you mean that the developer tools open at the bottom of the Firefox window?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

There are other things that need your attention.

Your System Details List shows multiple Flash plugins.

  • Shockwave Flash 15.0 r0
  • Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0

You can find the installation path of all plugins on the about:plugins page.

You can check the Flash player installation folder for multiple Flash player plugins and remove older version(s) of the plugin (NPSWF32) and possibly (re)install the latest Flash player.

The simple solution for the adobe 15 and 16 flash playerwas to exit firefox and then I was only left with 16. I should have known. The solution for removing the old 15 flashplayer was to reboot and the system took care of it.

Will keep an eye on the Web developer to see if it reoccures
