Hi there! In one of my two e-mail accounts I manage with Thunderbird via IMAP, the archive options (where I would like to configure that the archived messages go into folders organized by year) are greyed out. See attached screenshot. (In the other account, these options are accessible.) The account in question is a google-based work account; is this related to the inaccessibility of the archiving options? I am new to Thunderbird and needed help to import my contacts from Outlook. It wasn't easy; I had to reorganize the CSV file to match Thunderbird's format - what a pain. Then I needed to recreate all of my group addresses using Thunderbird's tools. I used some of these newly created group addresses a few weeks ago. Now all of the group addresses exist, but they have no members. What could have happened? And, what should I do to recover their contacts?

In the calendar, I copy and paste events to save time filling in details. But I often need to change the start times. When I do so, the event maintains the original duration. I never want this behavior, it is never useful. It's even screwed up my events by changing the end date to the next day. Why is there no option to disable this?

Recently I have started to have emails fail to deliver to a certain domain and the message that comes back is

550 DKIM Sender Invalid - envelope rejected.

I am using Thunderbird v128.8.1 esr (64-bit). Extensions installed are: 1. Attachment Saver (Deimios, v.0.2.2) 2. FileLink provider for Send (Teal Dulcet v2.1.1) 3. Remove Duplicate Messages (Eyal Rozenberg v0.6.1)

I have been in communication with this client for several years and not had this problem before. When I send email to the same recipients using WebMail there is no problem, it is only when I send from Thunderbird.

I am not using any encryption type of setup.

Has anyone come across this before? Does anyone know of a solution?

I was expecting it to show me the first line of the email content. Can that be configured? Or what else is the third row supposed to display? (other than the star for favorites, which always appears in the lower right corner but hardly needs an entire row by itself)

the last time I received an email update on my desktop PC (Win 7 Pro) was 4:08PM (yes, PM) for one account and 4:44AM (yes, AM) for the other account. On my phone, the 4:08PM is the same but the other email account recd an update at 3:17PM.

Hello! My husband making a new company online and we just set up the needed emails with domain connected. Thunderbird was installed on two different laptop and all the 5 email got configured on both laptop. We run several test on all to see if it is going all fine sending and receiving on both laptop In one of the laptop when sending emails from thunderbird to gmail with 4 email out of 5 has a problem and at gmail site ends in spam or in one instant does not even deliver. We run a test program but that showed all fine, however emails keep showing up in spam at gmail site. Where is the problem? At the host? or at Thunderbird or at Gmail? What should be done to fix it? They always do appear but there are often delays, sometimes of a few minutes, sometimes of several hours, and sometimes of many hours. At the end of the delay they always do appear, with the time at which they were sent indicated, even though that time is earlier than the time at which they appear in my inbox. I have sometimes sent e-mails to myself, as tests -- and these are also often delayed for five or ten minutes. I am not aware of any actions that I take that precipitates either the start or the end of the delay.

Let's say for example, I want to change the tag ID "unreplied" to "needsreply".

steps:

  1. in user.js: change user_pref("mailnews.tags.unreplied.tag", "unreplied"); to user_pref("mailnews.tags.needsreply.tag", "needsreply");

  2. search&replace all instances of regexp ^X-Mozilla-Keys:[^\r\n]+unreplied in all .eml files

  3. Some tags are not stored as "X-Mozilla-Keys" inside the .eml file but elsewhere ( https://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=3123346 ) – I suppose in the .msf files. They are in Mork format. Can I run a search&replace on them or will that break them?

Are these 3 steps enough or is more needed ?

I'm experiencing issues with threaded view in Thunderbird (version 139.0.2 on Windows). Some threads do not display all messages -only a few emails are shown (e.g. 2 out of 8), and others are missing from the thread view even though they are present on the server. Rightclicking a message and selecting "Open message in new tab" sometimes works (but still doesn't show all messages), and sometimes it doesn't open a new tab at all. the missing messages do exist on the server, and I can find them using Ctrl + Shift + F , but they do not show up in the thread, nor do they appear via Global Search, even though the global index has finished building.

I have tried the following: -Right-click folder > Properties > Repair folder -Deleted and rebuilt global-messages-db.sqlite (global search database) -Reduced IMAP mailbox size from 140GB to 110GB -Waited for reindexing to complete

But the problem persists. It seems that Thunderbird either doesn’t associate all related messages with the same thread, or skips them entirely in display and search.

What can i do to fix it? Thanks in advance

I am using MacOS 10.13, Thunderbird 115.15.16ESR: my Hotmail worked until 15 May 2025 and then it would not download new emails. Screenshots are available if you want me to post them. I got an error message: "authentication failure while connecting to server outlook.office365.com". I updated Thunderbird to the latest for my OS: 115.18.0ESR. Still no new emails. I deleted my email account on Thunderbird and tried to reinstate it. Now I get an error message when trying to set up the account: "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password." I tested my password by logging into my Microsoft account with it on my browser. I can also login to my email using Firefox, but I want my Thunderbird email client to work again.

The configuration I am using is: I use my normal hotmail password in the password field. I also set up a new App Password with Microsoft and tried that without success. With the 115.18 update there is a new field: Your login. I just put my hotmail email address in here. incoming: outlook.office365.com, port 993, SSL/TLS, Oauth2 
outgoing: smtp.office365.com, port 587, STARTTLS, Oauth2 (I have also tried: smtp-mail.outlook.com)

I enabled 2-step authentication with Microsoft in my Microsoft account more than a year ago. Interestingly, I don't get a prompt on my iPhone Microsoft Authentication App when I select Done when trying to set up the hotmail account on Thunderbird.

Please help. I am desperate, and I have wasted a lot of time on this without success. Cheers
