Hello! I am working on a brand new computer (i7 14700F, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Super, 32GB DDR5) with a brand new install of Firefox and sometimes it just won't load certain pages without me stopping it, refreshing, and then (most of the time) it all pops in. Browsing the web works perfectly in Edge, but in Firefox it has been a struggle. Some sites, like Discord, load VERY slowly and most of the time I need to force a refresh via shift and hitting refresh. Discord will take so long to load any image that I see it as a colorful blur before the photo fully loads in for view.

I'm running the most recent version of Windows 11, Firefox v137.0.1 (also had this issue with v137).

I have tried things in Troubleshoot Mode and didn't make a difference. I uninstalled Firefox, removed the %APPDATA%\Mozilla\ folder, and reinstalled but no change. What I haven't tried is Refresh Firefox, but that's because since Troubleshoot Mode didn't make a difference it's a bit hard to imagine Refresh Firefox will -- but if people think it's worth trying I certainly will give it a go!

I've been a FF user for as long as I can remember and I really don't want to give it up so hopefully someone can help me figure out what's going on here because I am currently at a loss and it's a big bummer.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Good evening (or morning, depending on your time of day)

As of about 3 days ago, in the middle of browsing, Firefox stopped loading any and all pages I tried to go to. There are occasional times where, if Firefox initially opens from a link, it will start to load the page, but then stop partway and, although it claims to be loading, will make zero progress and eventually time out. Since then, I have done a Firefox refresh, full uninstall and reinstall of the program, defragmented and done a virus scan of my computer to no results and still have had no luck fixing the issue. I've tried opening the troubleshoot mode, but any attempts to do so have been met in error, as Firefox closes to reopen, but never reopens and instead gives a crash report that it states can't be sent. In fact, that crash report that can't be sent shows up for every time Firefox closes, making the app not even open until I clear that report. I've attached pictures of the browser console that I've not had any luck assessing, the problem loading page that is not showing the same timeout error it had previously, and the crash report that it states cannot be sent.

If anyone has any solutions, that would be wonderful and I'd be extremely grateful. Thank you very much in advance.

Hello.

I have the latest version of Firefox (137.0) on all of my computers, but it all of a sudden became unresponsive on my laptop:

MacBook Pro 13inch M1, 2020 MacOS Sonoma version 14.7.5

The homepage loads and I can go into preferences, but pages won't load, and then it freezes up and I have to force quit. I tried re-installing Firefox, but that didn't help.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello, recently I have done in-place upgrade of windows 10 to 11. From that time loading of some pages in Firefox was very slow. For example www.google.com was loaded for about 90seconds. But next loading of the same page before Firefox restart was fast. So I had suspicion to Dns. But when I disabled DoH (Dns over HTTPs) nothing changed. What helped was to set the problematic page to DoH exceptions. So seems, that disabling of DoH is not really disabling, minimally on Windows 11. For sure during troubleshooting I tried it with disabled extensions, new profile, ... But nothing worked. Is there any other way how to disable DoH completely in Firefox? Setting network.trr.mode checked and was set to 5, which should be disabling.

For little more than year I've been battling with an issue, where after watching Youtube for hour or two, and having 5-6 open tabs with videos, at some point Firefox would crawl to a stop with UI going down to 1-2 fps, and finally inability to click anything, until I restarted the browser.

Only today I have pieced together, that when it happens, task manager shows almost all of my GPU's VRAM (Dedicated GPU memory) is claimed by Firefox. It looks that there is a GPU memory leak somewhere.

How should I go on about this? If it's a bug, what I should include in a report?

Here is ~2 hrs of progress, PC and Firefox specs at the end:

This is after watching one ~20 minute video:

This just continues, when gpu-dedicated hits ~7.8 GB, Firefox becomes unusable, and rest of the system appears a bit sluggish.

I can't say if this is regression, since I haven't been watching YT at all until recently.

Windows 10 Pro 22H2 Firefox Nightly 64 bit EN, 139.0a1 build 20250405211119 Checked in my normal everyday profile and with new clean one. GPU acceleration enabled, all video codecs installed.

Hardware: Core i7 9750H, 32 GB DDR4, GeForce 4060 8 GB. this is NOT a RAM issue, RAM usage never goes above ~19 GB on this PC.

It happens a tad bit slower than before, when I had 1060 6 GB.

I also noticed it on my laptop with integrated Intel GPU, but I don't have it anymore, so can't really check.

Unfortunately, because of regular issues with a web site, I was forced to use FireFox as my main web browser. I say "unfortunately", because FireFox takes FOREVER to load, especially compared to Safari. But, more importantly, there was something about Safari that I really liked; that I apparently cannot get with FireFox. But this is odd, since FireFox seems to have so many more user preferences than Safari! And yet there appears to be no way to open FireFox in fullscreen.

If Safari is in full screen, when browser is closed, Safari remembers this, the next time Safari is opened in full screen. With firefox, I always have to go through long start up, and then I have to manually click zoom button, to go full screen.

Is this something you never considered or something FireFox cannot do? Again, I guess I am surprised at how many preferences are available for FireFox, but nothing like this, even though this is a feature in a competing browser!

I am not sure, but, even if this is more of a Mac feature than a Safari feature, since I am using Mac version of FireFox, seems like FireFox could or should work the same way as Safari! But, if not, why not??
