my thunderbird freezes at the point of checking mails. when i try to update it, it opens a new application completely and doesn't update my present one. i also can't find the location of the app or the data. pls help!!!

how can a firefox145 (on Win11) update be rolled back?

it seems update 145.0.2 has killed all audio in firefox. Other browsers and programs have functioning audio. But nothing restores audio in FireFox after the update. I have closed and re-started FF - even hot and cold reboots of the machine. It is clearly a FF issue. The only solution appears to be a roll back, unless there is a preferences line that might have been shifted.

Is there a way to set up TB to download messages from the server together with remote content without ever opening them? At the moment remote content (pictures, etc) only downloads when I view a message. Naturally, remote content is allowed for everything in the setttings. What I'd like is to pre-download everything, so that, say, I could download the latest messages, board a flight, and work in transit without needing access to the Internet. Thank you for any suggestions!

So I have a self hosted Exchange and I have no problems using it from apps like Google Mail, Outlook and such, plus I can login directly to its .../EWS/Exchange.asmx through a browser. However, when trying with Thunderbird 145/Linux, I always get that username or password are incorrect, but it doesn't tell me exactly what went wrong and how it tried, so I'm in the dark why it is happening. Note: exchange's url is on a different domain than my account.

Basically it's either this message: Authentication error.

Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIMsgAccountManager.createIncomingServer]

Or similar if I try to get message from inbox.

Also weird things happen during configuration, like attached image (note that I've tried different URL permutations)

TLDR; how do I diagnose the issue, or ever better, how to connect? TIA

First of all - thank you for the work you’re doing. I recently moved over from Postbox because Thunderbird has the reputation of being stable, powerful, and professionally maintained. I’m more than willing to donate around €50 a year if it means I can rely on it without spending weeks fixing basic things like Google Calendar integration ;)

So I’m assuming this is just a technical issue on my system, and I’m hoping you can help me understand what’s going wrong.

The detailed diagnostics are below I’m on macOS Sonoma, running Thunderbird 145.0 (aarch64), and the Calendar module is completely missing.

Symptoms: • When I create a new calendar, only “On my computer” is available. • No Google, no CalDAV, no ICS, no network calendar options at all. • Calendar wizard never shows Google OAuth. • No calendar provider appears in the UI. • Even after a clean reinstall, the calendar.provider preferences are missing in about:config. • My profile folder does not contain an extensions/ directory (so Lightning and the GData/CalDAV providers are not being created or loaded).

What I have tried: 1. Removed Thunderbird.app completely 2. Downloaded the correct aarch64 build from Mozilla CDN 3. Renamed my profile (…default-release → …default-release-old) 4. Started Thunderbird with --ProfileManager to force creation of a clean new profile 5. Thunderbird shows the “Profile missing” dialog but does not automatically generate a new default-release profile 6. After manually creating a new profile, the Calendar module is still missing 7. No calendar-related files are generated in the new profile either

My goal is simply to add my Google Calendar using the built-in provider. But Thunderbird behaves as if Lightning and the calendar providers are not bundled at all.

Question: How can I force Thunderbird to regenerate the full Lightning/Calendar provider set inside a new profile? Or: Which files or modules must exist in the profile for the calendar subsystem to load?

Any insight would be helpful — at this point Thunderbird cannot create any kind of network calendar at all.

 Executable type (from 'file'):
   Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures:

 → So the correct universal binary is installed.

Profile configuration (from profiles.ini):

Problem summary:

 • Thunderbird shows: “Profile missing. The profile cannot be loaded.”
 • Thunderbird does NOT auto-create a new default-release profile after renaming.
 • After manually creating a new profile using --ProfileManager,
   the Calendar module does not load at all.

Calendar-specific issue:

 • “New Calendar” wizard only shows: “On my computer”
 • No “On the network” option appears
 • No Google / CalDAV / ICS provider options appear
 • No Google OAuth login appears
 • Calendar subsystem behaves as if Lightning is not bundled or not loading

Profile folder contents (important):

 • The profile (2a3nceor.default) does NOT contain:
     - extensions/ directory
     - lightning module
     - gdata-provider module
     - caldav-provider module
     - ics-provider files
     - calendar-data/ directory
     - storage.sdb
     - local.sqlite
 • prefs.js contains no calendar.* entries at all
 → The built-in Calendar and provider modules are not being created or loaded.

Steps already taken:

 1. Removed Thunderbird.app entirely
 2. Downloaded fresh 145.0 aarch64 build directly from Mozilla CDN
 3. Renamed existing default-release profile to *.old
 4. Started Thunderbird with:
      /Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/MacOS/thunderbird --ProfileManager
 5. Created a new, clean profile
 6. Issue persists: Calendar subsystem remains missing in a fresh profile

Expected behavior:

 • Thunderbird should generate a new profile containing Lightning + providers
 • “On the network” → Google / CalDAV / ICS should appear
 • Provider modules should be created under the profile directory

Actual behavior:

 • Calendar subsystem fails to initialize
 • Thunderbird cannot add any network calendars at all
 • No Calendar provider files appear in the profile directory

Request:

 What prevents Thunderbird 145 from loading or generating the Calendar/Lightning subsystem on macOS 14.8.2, even in a clean, newly created profile?
 Which module or component could be missing or failing to register?

Good morning, the "Payment Methods" section has disappeared. In its place, I see a link called "Manage passkey in system settings," which takes me to the Windows 11 Passkey section, which I've NEVER enabled!

If I create a new profile, the "Payment Methods" section appears as normal, but when I link it to my Microsoft account for profile sync, the "Payment Methods" section disappears and "Manage passkey in system settings" reappears.

How can I fix this? Thanks

I have a big folder of similar letters I have to print. And I was wondering if it is possible to send the letter itself and its .pdf attachment (usually 1 page) as a single print job so they could be printed on both paper sheet sides. The reason I have to print the letter body is that Thunderbird automatically adds a footer with the printing time as well as the sender's e-mail, the date of letter's receipt, etc. Please, share any information if such thing is possible to do.

I'm using Containers to switch between four different workloads, three companies and personal things.

However, if I have a tab opened with a host that is common to two or more containers, i.e. Google Drive, Firefox will continuously duplicate the tab and ask if I'd like to "Open this site in your assigned Container?"

The tab in the attached image is already opened with the document, but despite that Firefox will duplicate the tab, asking the above question. If I pass some time without visiting the group where the tab is, I have to sometimes close tenths of such tabs.

Any help is appreciated, Containers are amazing but it's really bothersome to have to keep closing tabs all the time.

Dear colleagues, please tell me what could be the reason why the Google AI Studio is not displaying correctly. The buttons are invisible, the fonts are stretched, and it's generally impossible to work (see the attached screenshot). Please refrain from giving advice like "update Windows to a newer version," as this is an old computer (its motherboard was manufactured in 2007), but it still opens most websites fine. I don't currently have access to a newer computer with Windows 10.

Hej, jestem okropna z komputerami. Zmieniałam w pracy komputer i zalogowałam się na Thunderbird. Nie miałam tam maili - ponoć lokalny mail?

Poprosiłam informatyka o przerzucenie maili. Niestety większość albo wylądowała w koszu, albo ich nie mam (mam maile z 2021, a nie mam z 2024?).

Stare konto było 'usuniete' z poprzedniego komputera. Utraciłam tam wszystkie maile z posegregowanych folderów. Zostały tylko te w odebranych i wysłanych, nawet po ponownym logowaniu.

Nasz informatyk kazał zmienić w konfiguracji serwera, katalog docelowy. Co zrobiłam. Nadal ich nie ma, po odświeżeniu.

Może jestem głupia, ale proszę o pomoc. Co robię nie tak...? Sprawa trochę pilna - potrzebuję tych maili.

I’m using a decent mid-range phone, and I usually keep only two apps in the recent apps list and a single tab open in Firefox. But every time I switch from Firefox to another app... like the gallery or file manager to upload a file or attach a PDF... the Firefox tab reloads when I come back. This completely resets whatever I was doing on the site, which is extremely frustrating.

The browser feels too memory-hungry and poorly optimized, even when I’m using just one tab. At this point, I’m honestly considering uninstalling Firefox and switching to a different browser, even though I’ve been using Firefox as my default on both Windows and Android for years. I really don’t like the Chromium-based alternatives, but it feels like my hands are tied.

I can't see payment methods or credit card info in settings, there's no option Autofill and there is no Saved payment methods button I have added CY (my country CYPRUS) in about:config extensions.formautofill.creditCards.supportedCountries still not working
