I love Firefox but – Now I have this problem: I run two monitors - center screen surfing, right screen excel and email. In the past when I would open excel page or email, click on a hyperlink and it would open a tab on my center screen very FAST. “NOW” it takes over 1 minute. AND Sometimes I get a warning “firefox.exe – No Disk” And in the box it says “There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive G. I DON’T have a G drive. I only have C, D, I and the warning box is at times hard to close. I tried resetting Firefox – IT DID NOT WORK!!! Help… Steve

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

To Enable SafeMode

  • You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
  • Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox"; Linux: "Firefox/File > Quit")

Tried your suggestions - they didn’t work. I had some concerns about touching the perf files - so I didn’t. Turn off hardware accelerator – it did not work. Get this: I also have i.e. 10 installed on my computer so I closed Firefox opened IE10. I then open my Excel spread sheet and clicked on a hyperlink – guess what? It opens the hyperlink in Firefox. Next I tried to open another hyperlink – guess what? ANOTHER 1 minute wait to open.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

You can check for problems with DDE.

You guys are going to hate this: 1. Uninstalled FireFox - bummer... 2. I used IE 10 - it works perfectly! (I may have a problem with adobe -

(got the red x (white x in black box).that was the reason I went to FF.

3. I may re-install FireFox later....
