Since upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6.8 (MacBook 3.1, 2.2 GHz 2 dur core laptop with 1 gb RAM), and moving to Firefox 6.0, Firefox has been reluctant to start up or quit, often needing a Force Quit command to exit.

This problem also affected the immediately previous version of Firefox. The program hangs on start up and sometimes takes over half a minute to close; sometimes it does not close at all until a Force Quit is summoned. Some times the program will not start by clicking on the Firefox icon in the Dock and can only be opened by selecting the Open command when you click and hold on the Dock icon for Firefox. Clearing the Recent History before trying a Quit sometimes has a small effect on the closing speed, but not much.
