Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

In Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode Firefox won't fill names and passwords automatically and won't offer to store new passwords.

  • You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
  • To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
  • Deselect: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"

How to get Firefox to remember your ID and password for signing in to a particular web site, when you have passed up the invitation to do so on your first visit and Firefox does not offer you a second chance. Delete the particular web site you are interested in from your Bookmarks. Go to Firefox Preferences: Privacy: check “Clear history when Firefox closes.” Quit Firefox. Start Firefox again; uncheck “Clear history when Firefox closes.” Go to the desired web site; Bookmark it; enter your ID and password.
