I'm at a loss here, problem is in subject line. This has happened for a long while and has persisted through various versions, I have attempted to:

- Alter my antivirus and internet protection settings to allow as much traffic as I can. - Download addons as XPInstall files and try and use the File -> Open File option in the Menu Bar - only returns a line about not having permission, despite having Admin permission.

My Firefox Version is the current 118.0.2 (see: attached image).

Thanks in advance.

Can you open this file, for instance in 7-zip?

@Tyraniu

Downloaded 7zip and I can open the XPI file in it, yes.

It is possible that your security software opened the file for inspection and broke the signing. What security software do you have?

It is possible that (anti-virus) security software is causing the problem. Try to disable security software temporarily to see if that makes a difference.

@cor-el

I use ESET, but Windows Defender is also present on my system.

I paused my Antivirus and antispyware, option in the setup tab of the application, then tried to:

- Use the normal add to firefox button -> returns same error as in title. - Download and File Open another copy (downloaded while my antivirus was off) of u-block -> returned the same "Admin Permissions" line.

Problem solved!

Thank you so much @cor-el!
