The Firefox for Android app allows you to group and organize tabs into Collections. You can use Collections to save groups of pages you want to return to, such as pages for shopping, news, or travel.

Collections appear on the Firefox Home screen after you create your first collection. They are stored separately from your bookmarks and synced tabs.

Note: Collections are stored locally on your device and are not synced between devices with Firefox Sync. If you uninstall Firefox or clear its app data, you may lose your Collections. Consider bookmarking important pages if you want to keep them or access them on another device.

Tip: Try out Tab groups, a dedicated way to make organizing your tabs easier.

You can use collections to group similar searches, sites and tabs for quick access later.

Add a tab to new or existing existing collection

  1. Open the tab you want to add to the collection.
  2. Tap the three-dot android menu icon menu button.

  3. Tap More.
  4. Tap Save to collection.
  5. Give the collection a name or choose from an existing collection.

The collection will display within the Collections section on the Home screen. Adding a page to a Collection does not remove the original tab.

Find your collections

Collections appear in the Collections section of Firefox Home after you've created at least one. If you don't see your Collections:

  1. Open a new tab or return to Firefox Home.
  2. Scroll down the Home screen to look for the Collections section.
  3. Make sure you have at least one saved Collection. The section may not appear when there are no Collections to display.
  4. Update Firefox for Android if the options or screen shown in this article don't match your version.

If your Collections disappeared after reinstalling Firefox or clearing Firefox app data, they may not be recoverable because Collections are stored locally rather than synced with your Mozilla account.

A normal Firefox update should not intentionally remove your Collections. If they disappear after an update, don't assume that signing in to Sync will restore them.

Renaming collections

  1. In the Collections section on the Home screen, tap the collection you want to rename.
  2. Tap the three dots to the right of the collection.
  3. Tap Rename collection.
  4. Enter a new name in the text field and confirm.

The collection will display in the Collections section with the new name.

You can rename a Collection, but editing a Collection does not edit the webpages you've saved to it. To change which pages are included, add or remove individual items.

Sharing collections

  1. In the Collections section on the Home screen, tap the collection you want to share.
  2. Tap the share icon FxPreview-share-icon that displays next to the collection.
  3. Tap an app from the list of apps that displays.

Sharing a Collection shares its links through the app you choose. It does not create a synced Collection on another Firefox device.

Removing tabs from collections

  1. In the Collections section on the Home screen, tap a collection to show its tabs.
  2. Tap the 🞪 to the right of a tab to remove it from the collection.

The tab itself will not be closed.

Removing a page from a Collection removes only that saved Collection item. It does not delete the webpage, remove a bookmark for the same page, or clear the page from your browsing history.

Deleting collections

  1. In the Collections section on the Home screen, tap the collection you want to delete.
  2. Tap the three dots to the right of the collection.
  3. Tap Delete collection.

Your tabs from the collection will not be closed.

Recover a removed item or deleted collection

Firefox Collections don't provide a backup or Sync-based recovery method for deleted Collections. If you remove a page or delete a Collection, you may need to add the pages again manually.

You may still be able to find a page elsewhere in Firefox if you previously:

  • Bookmarked the page.
  • Visited it and it remains in your browsing history.
  • Still have the page open in a tab.

For pages you don't want to lose, use bookmarks in addition to Collections. Firefox Sync can sync supported data such as bookmarks between devices, but it does not sync Collections.
