How to disable sound from pop up advertising on home page
On my Tribune home page in Firefox, I keep getting the sounds from the videos on that page. How do i disable the sound, which is most annoying. It just goes on automatically!

just go in settings and set to block pop ups
I tried that but it didn't help. The only way I can avoid hearing them when on my home page is by muting the volume. I have to leave it un-muted because of dictation I do on line. Do you or anyone else have any other ideas as to how I can get rid of the annoying sound that just randomly comes up? Thanks!
You can look at Flashblock or NoScript.
Still have not resolved the annoying sound on the Firefox Chicago Tribune Home Page. Have tried all of the above. Is there anything I can do this from the control panel to eliminate that sound on the advertisements?
I use the Chicago Tribune website almost everyday, but I keep my sound turned off until I want to hear something. I know that I have watched a video on that website and gone back to the homepage and wasn't subjected to advertisement audio tracks with my sound still turned on - I use Adblock Plus.
Have you considered blocking those advertisements?

Thanks. I tried your suggestions, however, I still have the same problem with the sounds coming on unless I mute the sound. Guess that's the only way to avoid hearing those advertisements.
