Unable to disable Picture In Picture in whatsapp/youtube - Windows desktop

I have turned off Picture In Picture following the standard help article. I have checked about:config and

media.videocontrols.picture-in-picture.enabled FALSE media.videocontrols.picture-in-picture.video-toggle.enabled FALSE

1) Click on the blurred picture and the video is displayed in a PIP box (WRONG) 2) Click on the html link in the message and video starts in a new tab (CORRECT)

Having disabled Picture in Picture why do I still get it for option (1). I don't want Picture in Picture ever Why does option 2 behave differently.

Is this because the Instructions for PiP are about disabling the controls when I want to PREVENT the functionality?

I suppose that this isn't our PIP box, but a feature of this webpage.

Our PiP mode starts only after clicking the blue button inside the video (or a specific keyboard shortcut).

I expect you are correct, but I don't have the code experience to know. Then the documentation is wrong/not specific and I'd still like a feature to kill PiP its really a waste of time, and frankly bad UI thought I appreciate that's down to Youtube or WhatsApp.

That floating player opens for me if I click the 'Miniplayer' icon next to the settings icon on the YouTube media player.
