I would like to look at "All Messages" and have the ability to sort by folder, and or filter by a set of words and then sort by folder.
Is there a way to view either "inbox" or "All Messages" and have the ability to sort filter by a set of words and then have a column that shows what folder each message is in and then sort by folder? This would make cleaning up my inbox and all messages much less time consuming.
Thanks Jodi

All messages is the Google archive folder. ALL of your messages in other folders have a copy in ALL messages. To use the Google label system. Messages with no labels only appear in ALL MAIL messages with Inbox as a label appear in the inbox. Individual messages can have multiple labels, so the same message can appear in a dozen folders, as well at the all mail folder.
The result is;
- The all mail folder is good for no purpose other than as a collective list of all mail in a Google account.
- Thunderbird uses Googles label to translate into standards based folders. There is no "Label" to list.
- Deleting mail from ALL MAIL will see it automatically disappear from all other locations. So it is of no use in managing messages.
- If you want to treat folders as labels your best approach is use the Google interface on their web site.
