Upgraded from 28.0 to 35.0.1 but all I get is "Unable to connect" even with Add-ons disabled. Thank God for system restore!
Using Windows 7 64-bit. Doing all this back on version 28.0 which IMHO is far more user-friendly than latest version. I'm happy NOT to upgrade but will this cause problems later? (Window Firewall allows Mozilla so that's not the problem).

Yes unfortunately it is likely to be a problem. Old versions get security fixes that are then annonced and open to exploit. So old versions are not secure or supported.
Jumping from Fx28 to Fx35, could cause some isues with older addons, and may be a bit of a learning curve

New versions of Firefox may require security software settings to be updated. That may include removing and adding again the Firewall rules for Mozilla Firefox.
