When I export my bookmarks and open up the file all bookmarks are shown by name. Is there a way to show bookmarks by url instead of by name.

Are you talking about an HTML backup?

If you open such a file in a browser or HTML capable editor then you see the rendered content and that is showing the name. If you open the file in a text editor then you see the HTML markup code as A tags.

Note that your System Details List shows multiple Flash plugins.

  • Shockwave Flash 15.0 r0
  • Shockwave Flash 11.9 r900
  • Shockwave Flash 11.8 r800

You can find the installation path of all plugins on the about:plugins page.

You can check the Flash player installation folder for multiple Flash player plugins and remove older version(s) of the plugin (NPSWF32) and possibly (re)install the latest Flash player.

Yes I am talking about HTML backup..... I tried to open the file in word and notepad but it also put the other code in there so it makes it hard to pick out the url address. I also looked at page source after I opened the html backup in the browser, it gives the urls listed in a better layout which I can copy each one to paste in a list. I was hoping that there was a better option of being able to do them all at once instead of one at a time. The end result I am trying to get to is having the option of a clean list of urls to categorize and convert the links for page preview to embed them into a site I am developing. The problem is that I have close to 10,000 bookmarks and trying to deal with that many I also need to see the url names to help me categorize them. I found a bookmark manager that I used before called check and get, I know it shows your urls when it takes out duplicates but I don't know if it does it otherwise. I may download the free older version to see if it does, I just thought if there is another solution to do it faster I would try that too. If not I guess I will have to do the page source version one at a time. Thanks for your help and response. I really appreciate it.

Save this code in the Location field of a new bookmark.

javascript:(function(){var%20e=document.getElementsByTagName('a');for(var%20i=0;i<e.length;i++)e[i].innerHTML+=':%20'+e[i];})();

When you are displaying that bookmarks.html file in Firefox, click on that bookmarklet to display the bookmark name followed by the URL for each bookmark.

You can copy the bookmarks in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) to the clipboard and paste them in a text area or text editor. That would give you the URLs and not to names (titles).

It also also possible to open the bookmarks.html file in a Firefox tab and use a JavaScript bookmarklet to extract the URLs to a new tab/window.

javascript:(function(){var i,e=document.links,T='<html><body><pre>';for(i=0;E=e[i];i++){T+=E.href.replace(/</g,'%26lt;').replace(/>/g,'%26gt;').replace(/&/g,'%26amp;')+'<br>'}T+='</pre></body></html>';with(window.open().document){write(T);close()}})()
