In the article https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux#w_install-firefox-deb-package-for-debian-based-distributions-recommended

https://packages.mozilla.org/apt leads to 404, not a Debian software repository / archive.

Step 4 (is broken)

Next, add the Mozilla APT repository to your sources list:

echo "deb [signed-by=/etc/apt/keyrings/packages.mozilla.org.asc] https://packages.mozilla.org/apt mozilla main" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mozilla.list > /dev/null

My sidebar kept disappearing when opening a new window. After asking the internet, I learned that this was part of the latest UI update. This is a horrible update (sorry programming team) because if you always want your sidebar to show up, all that extra stuff has to show up as well. See first image.

The second problem is that the Hide Sidebar button is too close to the Back button. I keep clicking on the Hide Sidebar button when I really want the Back button.

Is there a way to hide these controls? I know you can move them to the right, but then, so does your sidebar. I don't have a lot of screen real estate. Can we have an option to go back to the "classic" settings for sidebars?

By the way... In the previous versions of Firefox, I was able to click on a link (example: Google search) and my sidebar (in my case with my bookmarks) was always there in the new window or tab. Now when I click on a link, the sidebar with my bookmarks disappears in the new window. I have to keep enabling it if I want to see my bookmarks. I'm 100% sure that this is causing frustration with over 87% of Firefox users. Can we please bring back that old functionality?

I'm currently using MacOS 15.4.1 Sequoia with FireFox 138.0.1. It works fine after updating from 138.0.0 on my primary (Administrator) account. However, there is a second User account on this MacBook Pro laptop, used by other family members. All is not well here... Firefox updated itself from 137.0.0 recently and now will not run on the User account. On startup, it asks for an Administrator password to install a Helper tool and then will proceed no further. I have tried :-

Making the User account into Administrator - still hangs Cancel and re-start FireFox - hangs! Re-start the MacBook from cold - hangs! Cleaned Firefox installation and folders in the User Library (both User and Administrator) - still hangs! I'm aware there are two Library folders, one each for the System and one for each user, didn't touch the System Library. Added a new User account - it works! So maybe something in the System Library is the culprit? I've always regarded that area as "off limits" to us mere mortals, so please, not the "Wipe it and Start Again" option.

I don't really want to kill the User account, there is a lot of data in there and surely will miss something important if I delete it.

Summary, 137.0.0 worked, it updated to 138.0.1, it hangs up! I am unable to fix it. Any offers guys?

I'm done with Firefox. Suddenly this past few months more than once a week I'm getting the "Restart to continue using Firefox" because of updates. This is annoying and unnecessary for every update they push. It's a browser, that's all. The restarts can wait until I feel like closing or when I update Linux and restart the laptop.

Can't even open a new tab when this happens.

The updates cannot be THAT critical that work is halted.

Since the last update, (4/30) Foxfire auto-closes after about 5 minutes. “Help, About Firefox”, lists version “115.23.0esr (64-bit)” as current. I do not remember the “esr” in the version previously. Was I sent the wrong update? I still run under Windows 7 to avoid a hardware replacement which works for my usual desktop software. Is Window 7 related to the problem? My e-mail is via Yahoo at “https://mail.yahoo.com/d/folders/ …” which switches to an ATT.com site. Tried going directly to email via ATT.com and the auto-close was faster. A test sitting at the ATT login prompt for 15+ minutes without loging in did not auto-close. I also have a soft recall of looking for help on the Mozilla site for well over 5 minute without the auto-close. Is Yahoo/ATT email the issue. If so, do I need to talk to them? Directory “PC:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Maintenance Service\UpdateLogs ” has 3 files with 4/30/25 dates which is about when problem started. I can email file fro any directory subtree starting with MOZILLA\ if it will help diagnose the issue. Howard Neuschaefer neuscha@sbcglobal.net

I purchased a new MacBook Pro and moved the copy of Firefox V.91.6.1 via a thumb drive from my old iMac to my new MacBook Pro. The application opened, but none of my Profile information was present on the screen.

Later, I installed the ESR version of Firefox on my new MacBook Pro also, it opened as well, but did not display my Profile information either.

How can I obtain all of my established Profile information on my new Laptop computer, and run the current version of Firefox there as well?

Thank you for your help.

Dear Support,

would be most grateful for any answers to my question.

I have a copy of Firefox Portable, which I tend to use at local libraries.

In the past, the home page of Firefox Portable would show 8 different icons. I could click on One of them, and would be taken straight to the site of that icon. I would be shown the icon for Language Shop, and could then click on it to get into it.

Now, the home page of Firefox Portable still shows 8 different icons, but there is not an icon for Language Shop.

How could I replace one of the icons with Language Shop, please?

I have also attached a screenshot of the home page as it is now, with the 8 icons highlighted,

Marek Wes.
